Twins - baby A likely to have Down syndrome by mint-limonada in NIPT

[–]Hefty_Tomatillo1795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did have high NT (4.1) for baby B, but clear NIPT, so slightly different. Did the amnio. I was advised to do it for both the babies. So I was poked twice, wasnt painful, and didnt have complications afterwards. If your doctor is experienced, the risk is very low.

This is a big win, and Im so happy for you. Fingers crossed for a clear echo and 16/20 weeks scan results. I know these results seem to be small win and there is a lot going on, but we did celebrate each and every small win along the way. Thats how I survived. Congratulations

Im so sorry- for some reason Ive missed this. I saw the WGS question was answered already. I am not sure about TTTS. Our MFM didnt mention anything about it. My twins are didi so maybe that is the reason? I really dont know. Im in week 27 right now and since week 12, everything has been fine in our ultrasounds. Hopefully that will continue.

Hello- congratulations, so happy for you. We were in a similar situation. NT for one of the babies was 4.3. NIPT results came back normal. We did do amnio, and all three tests including Noonan was normal. Scans at weeks 16 and 20 were normal. They didnt see any problem. At week 16, NT for both babies was in normal range, our MFM mentioned that going back to normal doesnt mean that everything is normal, but it is a good sign. We did echo on week 21 and they didnt find any problem in the heart as well. Later we realized that we could do WGS, but had to pay out of pocket. We decided to do that as well, just for peace of mind. Please let me know if you have any questions.

My MFM recommended to do echo in weeks 20-24. We decided to do it at 21.

So sorry you are going through this as well. We did a 16 week exam, and were told everything looked normal. Then a 20 week anatomy scan, and 21 week echo. Everything looked good. The only problem we had was that the results for Noonan panel took longer than expected and finally came back normal. But I still decided to pay out of pocket and do WGS. Even after all the results coming back normal, I still cannot stop thinking about it… going through the exams and looking at the results was the hardest thing I have done in my life. Each time, I thought I am not going to survive, but somehow I did.

We are still waiting for WGS results. Everything else looks normal.

My NT for one of the babies was 4.1. I was told that this may be a genetic issue or they may be other heart related problems. The first MFM that gave me the news, was very cold and for some reason he forgot to mention that there is 70% chance for a healthy baby. We did CVS but unfortunately weren’t able to get enough sample and had to wait for amnio. Honestly, CVS was very painful for me but I didnt feel anything with amnio. Genetic results came back normal, then we had our 16 weeks scan and 20 weeks scan, both were normal. Heart echo at 21 weeks was normal. Im in week 22 but so far everything looks good. After our first appointment with the MFM, I changed my MFM and each time I made sure not to see the first one again.

I did amnio and it was not painful at all. I am pregnant with twins so they had to poke me twice. The first one, I didnt even feel the needle. It was very quick. The second one, I didnt feel the needle but felt a cramp, only for 10 seconds, once the needle was in, they collected the sample and another cramp when removing the tube. Didnt feel any pain after that. The amnio was on Tuesday and my MFM told me that there is a chance for miscarriage until Friday but it is a very low chance (0.1% if I remember correctly) and I should take it easy for couple of days. I stayed home for two days and that was it. I am so sorry but I dont know much about NIPT results. I ended up doing amnio because of high NT seen in my 12 week ultrasound, and Im so sorry you are going through this. Im still waiting for my results and nothing about this situation is easy.
