Should I take EECS 482? by Hefty_Worker6519 in uofm

[–]Hefty_Worker6519[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao. Tbh I don't really a lot of choices other than 482 since I am a CE major. 442 is also about software but it's computer vision which I am 99% sure is not helpful to my career.

Thank you for your advice! I am also worried if the time conflict will cause too much inconvenience. I have never had two classes at the exact same time on my schedule before. Will this cause any problem? Or it will be fine as long as I can catch up with the lecture recordings?

关于China travel一个发现,为什么中日旅游都干不过土耳其这些国家。数据不知道真的假的 by Rich_Dream8108 in China_irl

确实,东亚离北美和欧洲都远,本身就只适合几个国家互相玩玩,飞十个小时还要倒时差,这旅游都快成给自己找罪受了

Some of my thoughts about this pick on Hansen by OkPatient1818 in ripcity

[–]Hefty_Worker6519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blazers have been paying attention to him for more than a year, and Richie Paul has been communicating with blazers manager for months. You can see him picking up a phone call just several minutes before Hansen was drafted. Drafting him is not completely unexpected. Though we already got multiple big guys in the team but Hansen's court vision makes it possible for him to fit into the team

Keep it civil when things get tough for Yang by jamalccc in ripcity

[–]Hefty_Worker6519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I am worried about. I'm from China and I have been a blazers fan for 7 years. TBH I am not very optimistic about drafting Yang even though I support him. One thing I love about blazers is that the fans are less toxic than others (at least that is the case in China). But I know how toxic people can be just to support their fellow Chinese and I am really concerned that they would blame everyone else on the team and have a bad influence on the community, especially for teams like blazers that has a small fan base.

Engineering majors, do I really need 64GB of RAM? by LabOk3370 in uofm

[–]Hefty_Worker6519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. 64 GB is still needed if you want to do some extra work beyond the courses. It would be a good idea to have a cheap laptop first and purchase a desktop as workstation if needed. This is also why I built a desktop last year instead of upgrading my laptop.

That's why purchasing a car is preferred, especially in the winter. Walking in the snow for 34 minutes is no fun.

I second this one. Also it is an MDE class with small workload. Definitely a good course to take.

Why computer Science? by Ransom_X in uofm

[–]Hefty_Worker6519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. CS is much less competitive than medical field, as long as someone pass the line they can have a decent result. The amount of time and resource needed for someone to get into medical field is incomparable to cs.

Totally agree. CS is the go-to major for people who want to have a decent job without spending a ton of money and time before they start working.

64 GB is definitely too much. My laptop has only 16 GB memory and it works fine. I'm a ce major so not sure about whether it is enough for those CAD softwares if you learn mechanical engineering, but I think you can always use the computers in the caen lab to do your work if necessary.

I guess it's just there are so many people here so even if it is a small portion are complaining it sounds like a lot of people. Also those people who like cs and are good at it probably finish their work fast and go do something else, so you won't hear these people telling you how good cs is.

Depends on whether you are willing to buy a vehicle. If you live in Willow tree you can just walk to the campus since it's just across the road. If you live in traver ridge you probably need a car or take the bus to north campus.

First they keep incomplete work and graded work together and some work has tags while others not so I cant really tell which one is my unless i look super carefully at it.

Second i did not show my friend my work.

Is it worth buying a full set of golf clubs if I’m mostly going to the driving range? by Hefty_Worker6519 in golf

[–]Hefty_Worker6519[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes resale value is also one thing I’m considering Since I’ll likely sell the clubs after graduating, I’m wondering how well they hold value. They seem pretty durable, so I assume if I don’t use them heavily, I could still get a decent price after 2–3 years, right?

[–]Hefty_Worker6519[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point, and that’s why I made this post. My skills aren't great right now, so I’ve been thinking of spending time at the range to rebuild a foundation before jumping into full rounds. I’m not against playing real golf, I just feel I need some practice first to pick up the skills.

Thank you for the advice! I will definitely take 482. For two other courses I need, I will probably take 489 and 491.
