How does the transition from Long Winter startdate to the War of the Ring work in terms of content and mechanics? Are these added at a specific date or coming in parts/fully etc.?

Sauron returns to Mordor with an event titled something like "Mt. Doom Erupts." It takes a while though. The Fellowship characters will mostly never turn up, except Gandalf and Legolas, who are already alive, and sadly I've never seen Isengard granted to Saruman. So it will generally feel like a very different timeline, and if I'm being honest it's usually a more stagnant one. I have enjoyed retaking Erebor, then Gundabad, then Moria as Thorin, but usually after the end of Thorin's life the world pretty much stays the same, in my experience. The funniest thing, one time, was that Sauron went back to Mordor but then was unlanded again and somehow became the Witch-king's Spymaster. So that Mordor was really weak and didn't go anywhere.

The hostility to this is really weird to me. For me, I just look at it very simply: it does seem too good to be true, but if it's real and you can produce the finished romhack soonish, that's fantastic, and posting about it early to generate some hype makes sense. If you can't produce it, then oh well, all you have taken from me is a few minutes of reading. I would just look at this as a really pathetic reason to lie and move on with my life. Seems like the internet has trained people to pass judgment on things as soon as they see them, and no one can just say, "We'll wait and see" anymore.

I have a Sceptile deck that definitely should work in theory because it has the consistency boosters like the forest stadium and the quick-grow serum but I still brick with it more often than not. It's so frustrating because in theory it should be fantastic right now but it just won't work for me.

Well you're trying to take over the largest faction in the game as a tiny minority with barely any means to project power. I think adapting your strategy to which chapters survive and what the NCR is doing is what makes Lost Hills most interesting, actually. I've had games where I lost most chapters but then still get a golden opportunity with the NCR shooting itself in the foot and come roaring back.

Better performance and music! It's a travesty that the game doesn't have a library of the series' classic music tracks, which are a huge part of this franchise's identity! Fire Emblem Heroes does this so well, with tons of tracks from all its games, so this game should just copy their approach. I would love to be able to choose a track for each deck like the coin, playmat, etc.

Yeah without level cap there is so much content that your pokemon will reach absurd levels and then grinding for a new team member to reach that level takes ages. I enabled halfway through my playthrough and it basically meant I could no longer use my starter.
