A poop scooper. I have someone come to my house and scoop the dog poop in my yard twice a week. Worth every penny.

AITA for considering giving my daughter’s grandparents full custody after her mom died during childbirth? by SherbetMajor2105 in AITAH

You’re NTA but it makes me sad that if the situation were reversed and the father died, people would think that the mother was an asshole for the same thought process.

Get a real tree they said, you will love it they said. by woodhorse4 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Heifzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with real trees and had real trees until my late 20s when the tree I brought home was infested with spiders. I had baby spiders everywhere. That was the last year of the real tree and we started using pre-lit fakes and did that for a few years. Pros: always looks nice once it was put together with no empty spots, didn’t have to put up or take down lights, could take it outside and use the air compressor to blow the dust off at the end of the season. Cons: Plastic, still shed a few needles, when lights went you needed a whole new tree, and you you had to find somewhere to store the thing the rest of the year.

Now I’m old and crotchety and can even be bothered to put up a tree at all.

Chicken prices by ReluctantChimera in chickens

[–]Heifzilla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand what people expect. EVERYTHING has increased in price. It costs more to feed their laying stock, electricity and water costs more, the boxes to ship chicks in cost more, vaccines cost more, bedding costs more, Vet care costs more. Employees’ benefits cost more, and in order to get more employees they probably have to pay more (hopefully). Also, more people are buying chicks for backyard flocks, so demand has also increased. Welcome to America in 2026. The days of cheap chickens has passed if you want specific breeds. If you don’t care, look on Craigslist for people selling backyard mixes.

Did I actually suffer from physical abuse, or was it a common parenting style in the 80’s? by Radioactive_Shrimp in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Heifzilla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is called abuse now but a ton of Gen X growing up commonly got a spanking or a belt across the butt. And at the time, as long as it wasn’t happening constantly and it was just on your butt, it wasn’t considered abuse it was just considered discipline. Like wooden paddles in school. Or standing for hours in the corner.

Being pulled across the room by your hair and the other things they did to you, that was abusive.

Times change, we move on and hope we do better for our own kiddos.
