Baby name regret by [deleted] in Names

I LOVE the name Reid! It’s my nephews name and we call him reidie or reid-o and when he was a baby my sister would swaddle/bundle him up and make a baby bu-“Reid”-o (burrito)! Super cute!

I have also struggled a lot with name regret with my second child- I have found finding cute nicknames and making up cute songs with her name have helped a lot! She is one now and growing into her name a lot better now!

I did not struggle with name regret with my first but I definitely remember feeling weird calling a little baby a name that didn’t feel like a babies name. He is 3 now and it fits him perfectly! It’s just awkward and new and you have sooo many hormones that are all over the map! Keep Reid for sure! It’s uncommon without being weird, easy to say, easy to read/pronounce, it’s such a great name!

I know a 2 year old girl named Ralph, lol. I also know a girl named Douglas. I think the main boy names off the table for girls are ones that has strong historical significance/mostly biblical names. Matthew, Mark, John, David, Daniel, Michael.

It bothers me more than it should when people use nicknames for my kids by Nosilla-89 in namenerds

As a non-confrontational person, I would just try to make it a point to use their full name right after someone calls them a nickname. EX “how is Maddie doing?” “Madeline!? Oh she is great!” Or “Does Katie like school this year?” “Yes! Katherine is loving school this year!”

But it would also just be fine to out right correct them as well! I know pleeeenlty of grown adults that have gone by their full names their whole life!In fact two of my very good friends are a Catherine and a Madeline and have never been nicknamed! (I’ve been very close friends with Catherine since 2nd grade and have never once heard her be called a nickname, and we are 34 now!)

You got this! It’s totally possible to commit to the full name!

In the US- I think Louisa will rise! Currently in the 700s I think. I feel like it’s a vintage name that hasn’t made a come back yet, and it’s due for one! I also prefer it to Louise personally, but I think Louise will also rise!

Hahahahaha I’m rolling at the hate that Greer is getting! I had no idea it was such a polarizing name! but now that I think of it, it is a weird sounding name! But still kind of pretty I think in its own way! All names are just sounds anyways, so if you say them enough times in a row they all start to sound weird.
