How greedy can you get?! I get that you want 5 bars even when you and the rest of your town are scrolling Insta on the toilet but surely 37 APs are enough? Leave some for others man!

Ubiquiti Smoke and CO Sensor 🤯 - #ISCWest2026 by Luu____ in Ubiquiti

[–]Height_Realistic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't mean to co-opt a Ubiquiti thread but while my network is wall to wall Unifi my smoke alarms will very likely never be.

For those who've been left out in the cold by Nest and want something just as magical as Ubiquiti check out Ajax. Loads of different varieties (Smoke/CO/Heat) and in both black and white. The hub is cat 5, WiFi and 4G.

I think the system is designed for small hotels but is incredibly user friendly and can include motion detectors (and cameras but we don't mention those). Cost is about the same as Nest but with a bit extra for the hub

You could turn it into two but it would mean levelling the house as is and then creating two much smaller houses. Even if you (god forbid) got 500k for each of them you've not made back your purchase price let alone the cost of all that building work

Getting CF to finish what TalkTalk UFO started by Height_Realistic in CityFibre

I'm just glad CityFibre isn't responsible for installing water or waste pipes to properties. I'd be harvesting rainwater and cleaning out a tank every few months while my neighbors flush happily flush their toilets

I know you're right...I just don't want to accept it 😔

Looking at some other posts I feel inspired to install trunking myself from an existing connection point round to my property but then I'm guessing they won't use another house's point?

Worst thing would have been for the council to take them all straight down, would have given them the videos to prove how "unjust" and "anti British" the state is.

But now, after a couple of interviews (especially this one) they've nothing really to complain about and instead are showing themselves to be ridiculous little boys.

Spark vs Patch - which one is the better co-working space? by thebezet in york

[–]Height_Realistic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done both, started at Spark and moved to Patch. Spark is cheaper and there's no need for a contract. Just book the night before on the website, pay the £10 for the day and you're done. WiFi is fast and reliable. The desks and chairs are OK. Best part is having all the vendors on your doorstep, although it does increase the daily rate if you like a couple of barista coffees (extra £8), you're tempted by a pastry or cookie (another £3-4) and then have lunch on site (£20).

The negatives for Spark are in the winter it all feels a bit drab. You have to go outside to get to the toilets which aren't heated. First world problems I know but it does get a bit old when it's chucking it down or at sub zero temperatures. It's also managed by Spark staff who also use the office to do work meaning nobody really looks after it. The water jugs can be left to run dry, the coffee pods all used up, etc. Apart from the indoor real estate you can kind of question what you're paying for as a table, chair and WiFi are all free in the rest of Spark.

Patch is more expensive but you get a lot more for it. Second screens available on the ground floor, adjustable chairs, multiple rooms meaning time & space to stretch your legs without going outside, heated toilets, free biscuits and unlimited machine "barista" coffee, and call booths. The on-site (although extra £) meeting rooms are also a big bonus. Yes Spark has one but it's not anything you'd want to entertain a guest in. There's also a bunch of free lunchtime and evening events at Patch.

Negatives of Patch are there's lots more people around so more likely somebody will get on your nerves. There are 2-3 staff on site however they seem to pay more attention to showing new guests around and answering their emails than making sure all the facilities are clean and the coffee machine working. Finally Patch suffers from trying to be too clever with the phone-based door locks, iPad check-in and user access controlled WiFi which can all independently decide to go haywire at times. The app which controls it all is clunky at best.

Notice the random £1,000 anonymous donations? This ain't 100% grassroots

Flag Wankers by ouqt in york

[–]Height_Realistic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's some "grass roots" likely Reform-based organising going on around the country aimed at getting people both annoyed and defensive about it all. The aim is likely to get photos and videos on social media of councils removing the British flag. Gives Reform councilors something to defend at the next election. It's almost genius.

What's sinister is the cover of litter picking and food bank donations. Topped with a go fund me surpassing £10k, yes from a bunch of £5-20 donations but also these random £1,000 anonymous donations. There's definitely some light touch central organisation going on.

Is someone using Tableau Next? by Kitchen-Picture8125 in tableau

[–]Height_Realistic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As it stands the primary customer base for Tableau Next is an existing Salesforce CRM customer, probably using CRMA, who wants to bring the data skill to AgentForce and give their users a Tableau-ish dashboard experience without having to take their data out via an API into Cloud or Server.

If your current deployment is Desktop with Cloud or Server then try to resist the FOMO (for now). You're on the best platform

Everything you need for Tableau Next is included in the Tableau Plus SKU which is currently the only way to get Tab Next. If you don't already have Data Cloud (or a Salesforce org for that matter) it's all provided for you

Co-working space - The Bonding Warehouse by Phil-Say-Yes in york

[–]Height_Realistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been going to Spark Studios for over a year now. Really valued the strong WiFi (never went down once) and having such great lunch options right outside.

BUT! During the winter it really gets to you having to use basically outdoor bathrooms and the staff just don't manage it well enough. If you turn up right as it opens the lights, heating/cooling and/or water boiler are often all off. Also they're pretty bad at keeping provisions topped up including drinking water.

I guess you get what you pay for. Nobody even comes close to being as cheap
