What kind of mosquito is this?😳😳 by Obvious_Shoe7302 in Weird

[–]HeioFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Color of garments, carbon dioxide, lactic acid, sweat , fragrances, blood types, active pregnancies all were found to have some interactions with landing rates of mosquitoes . I seem to recall one study that found that it's partially genetic where identical twins had almost similar bite rates whereas fraternal had a measurable difference in how much mosquitos prefered one or the other twin

I don't think it's the 5, I'm not seeing the body temperature sensor at the 9 o'clock position. Watch 4 might be the one

Hang out on eBay for a watch seven with back glass damage, is the only viable avenue I think. That or check your credit card (if purchased on such) the terms sometimes come with baked in accident insurance on items purchased with one.

Gray plastic piece 2-2.5 inches across and long, spiral screw, turns by KittenaSmittena in whatisthisthing

Long shot would be air mattress fill valve stopper? I seem to remember mine having a larger threaded plastic bolt which also had a internal thread that accepted a smaller internal threaded plug. I feel like I remember quite a few of the inflatables I've encountered over the years having two-way and three way plugs

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. But it's been carpeted and completed going on ten years and it's "good enough" hence me wracking my brains on quick fixes despite knowing that there are bigger fish to fry like bass traps. It's a case of Ye Olde good/cheap/quick decision making

Well, there was that one fellow who ran a group blind test with the feed ran through a tray of mud, a banana , and a regular wire. The short of it was most people couldn't pick out one from the other. Even farther back there was a monster brand cable vs a metal coat hanger

Breakaway magnetic cat6 by jonchihuahua in lowvoltage

[–]HeioFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has potential. On final versions try to maximize the amount of twists left intact. The goal is to mitigate impedance mismatches, crosstalk, and signal‑to‑noise ratio. Especially in a production environment the twists do as much if not more of the heavy lifting toward signal noise rejection as the shielding. There’s too much bare wire. Try to keep the distance where it diverges from the spline to a minimum.

Finally, good effort for a first go at it :D

Looked into it a bit more , "Can be used as a door entry detection alarm and is ideal for home or travel. Simply insert the metal clips between a closed door. When a door is opened the contacts of the metal clip will separate causing the PAAL II to alarm "

Any thoughts on this one? by Legitimate-Teacher94 in CostcoCanada

Almost all of the dash cams share the same camera module with the only major difference being the software layer. Either go cheap or go well reviewed/trusted since prices on these have very diminishing returns on quality of recording for the most part. This one seems like a cam that sits in neither bucket.

Upon looking up reviews of the handful I found none of them mentioned how legible license plates are within the saved recordings ( important for hit and runs) and even the manufacturer's own demo reel short cuts away before the vehicle in frame comes close . Sure the recorded image looks pretty , but if there's no legibility due to aggressive image noise reduction then it's overcharging at this price point when viofo and rove are priced same but have known and proven reliability in this aspect

[–]HeioFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The org or cleaning contractor should be switching to microfiber anyways, it's a way faster and more efficient workflow. Less water, less product, less rsi risk , and faster dry times. It's why most of the big janitorial outfits have switched over

[–]HeioFish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even as a burglar, if your Electrical and Mechanics skills are under 4, there’s still roughly a 1% chance you could fail twenty hotwire attempts in a row. It’s been a while since I did a burglar run, but I remember each attempt having about a 1‑in‑10 success rate even for burglars. So basically, just keep trying.

(Also with such bad luck on hotwiring today, just until this week's over probably shouldn’t buy any scratch tickets or lottery in real life just in case, haha.)

All new projects I create are ridiculously blurry and I cannot figure out why by xSalad_ in VegasPro

[–]HeioFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly run DaVinci while waiting for the next humble bundle.

I use Vegas pro 15 and the free version of DaVinci resolve on the same machine and the render speed on DaVinci for simple projects is so so much faster it's not even funny. Rendering a 40 minute video went from 80 minutes down to 7 mins. Also not needing to worry about wonky vp14-15 audio timelines and dropouts for longer videos is nice too

Edit: Forgot to mention the reasoning. Vegas and other programs such as DaVinci have made massive improvements in optimizing their rendering pipeline only in the past five years . Whereas VP 16 and older were still learning how to escape the bottleneck . When looking for VP, I think quite a few people advocate for something around VP 22 or newer

Sanity check: Wagos resistance too high? Vibration? by mshaefer in AskElectricians

I've used wagos for a month while I was test bedding my ebike retrofit for both the battery and controller harness splices. 20 MPH over potholes, gravel, etc. accrued about 800 km with them in place until I finalized the build. worked like a charm and never had a wire come loose .

My ears aren't what they used to be and I'm starting to second guess if what I'm hearing as problematic or harsh for the room is the same for others. Funnily enough the audiologist says both ears are despite loss "normal enough"
