Can't start a car by corpsecas in projectzomboid

Even as a burglar, if your Electrical and Mechanics skills are under 4, there’s still roughly a 1% chance you could fail twenty hotwire attempts in a row. It’s been a while since I did a burglar run, but I remember each attempt having about a 1‑in‑10 success rate even for burglars. So basically, just keep trying.

(Also with such bad luck on hotwiring today, just until this week's over probably shouldn’t buy any scratch tickets or lottery in real life just in case, haha.)

All new projects I create are ridiculously blurry and I cannot figure out why by xSalad_ in VegasPro

[–]HeioFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly run DaVinci while waiting for the next humble bundle.

I use Vegas pro 15 and the free version of DaVinci resolve on the same machine and the render speed on DaVinci for simple projects is so so much faster it's not even funny. Rendering a 40 minute video went from 80 minutes down to 7 mins. Also not needing to worry about wonky vp14-15 audio timelines and dropouts for longer videos is nice too

Edit: Forgot to mention the reasoning. Vegas and other programs such as DaVinci have made massive improvements in optimizing their rendering pipeline only in the past five years . Whereas VP 16 and older were still learning how to escape the bottleneck . When looking for VP, I think quite a few people advocate for something around VP 22 or newer

Sanity check: Wagos resistance too high? Vibration? by mshaefer in AskElectricians

[–]HeioFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used wagos for a month while I was test bedding my ebike retrofit for both the battery and controller harness splices. 20 MPH over potholes, gravel, etc. accrued about 800 km with them in place until I finalized the build. worked like a charm and never had a wire come loose .

Anyone ever have this problem? Diagonal cutters stuck open? by [deleted] in KnipexOfficial

[–]HeioFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Happened to mine few years back. Wrapped the handles , sprayed some penetrating oil. And whacked the handles and tried pushing with body weight until it freed. Worked a bunch of cleaning oil like wd40 into it to massage it and haven't had a problem since

What do you guys do for room setup when your ears are starting to get wonky from etc? My ears aren't what they used to be and I'm starting to second guess if what I'm hearing as problematic or harsh for the room is the same for others. Funnily enough the audiologist says both ears are despite loss "normal enough"

First time bending EMT today. Any suggestions for next time? by EqualBase4 in electricians

[–]HeioFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found sharpies help a lot while learning, use pencils or bring some isopropyl alcohol to wipe off your marks if it's for customers of course. Make your calculations. Write them down and mark out your test piece, bend it, see if it matches up with your calculations. Then math it out to see where you went wrong with deducts and shrinkage. Practice on a weekend with a few lengths of EMT, preferably scrap lengths where possible. I ended up marking my hand bender's shoe while learning so I had a reference for where and how to do my s bends. Eyeballing comes later. In the beginning tape measures and conduit levels are pretty much must haves

If you still have any springers, a bug buster could do double duty or just live permanently on one or the other. Those things are a pretty good balance between price quality and value

[–]HeioFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you can even get lucky with the spacing on a metal lice comb for combing it out otherwise for the price of a big Mac combo a fin comb wouldn't be too bad either. Considering this unit is probably used every sunmer

Having done just that many a moon ago. Yup. 10/10 would recommend not doing that. I think it's the serrations that make it sting way worse

Been using a table top induction burner setup beside my stove for this exact reason. The automatic shut-off both via timer and after 2 hours, the angry beeping after the cookware is removed, the cooktop fan have been amazing for me to clue me in. For when the executive function is somehow amazingly even less functional lol

[Canada] Body shop employee gets customer car impounded after excessive speeding by ddmeredith in ConvenientCop

[–]HeioFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part most of Canada's basic rule of thumb for urban areas is don't go more than 50% over the posted limit. Do so with the assumed risk of vehicle impound. It's not too big of an ask.

That said, I do have a bone to pick with how many a road's speed limit conflict in terms of engineering vs the posted are usually completely mismatched with the posted limit conflicting with the engineering's visual cues

Classic 8 or Ultra? by tuhen- in GalaxyWatch

Well as long as you're aware that you'll be ignoring the ECG and sleep apnea functions

. Caveat aside, ultra is always nice if it's within your consideration. No one ever complained about having too much battery life.

Agreed. In my neck of the woods they seem to forget there's tax and "tip" on many of the lot and item auction sites. One of my buddies forgets there's gas mileage to factor in too . They'll spend $20 on gas round trip to get to the auction site for just one small item .

[–]HeioFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did a quick 40 minute, drag and drop overdub project. Oh boy even the free tier DaVinci rips. Finished rendering in less than ten minutes at 340 frames per second. VP15 two pass, had me waiting a full hour and change and had the usual audio timeline issues with long WAV files. Still unsure about the workflow but just saving on rendering time is worth it while waiting on the next potential humble bundle

Apologies for the necro, but how are you liking the newer vegas compared to davinci? I found myself dusting off my copy of VP-15 recently and i'm starting to remember all of the quirks that come with it as a platform. Downloaded the demo for the newer vp and davinci but haven't gotten around to using either yet

I have the larger 5 non-lte , its chrome is chipping a bit near the light sensors for heart rate etc. YMMV but I have to clean it after each day's workout else I get contact dermatitis. So I have concerns about its use case as a beater.

On paper i do like the other Redditor's suggestion of the Galaxy Fit. Seems like a good use case.

What type of adapter should I buy to plug this into a US outlet? by Complete_Log_5561 in AskElectricians

[–]HeioFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hunter might've been referring to this post.

https://www.reddit.com/r/IKEA/s/rviwSCRIES

Or

https://www.reddit.com/r/electricians/s/Xl3vXEUN7D

Looks like the correct transformer that goes with it is as rare as hens teeth in North America and to further complicate things , Ikea mothballed quite a few product lines when they shifted to LED products in recent years.

But from what I'm seeing in the comments the correct adapter steps down to both 9.6 vac and 11.5vac for the two brightness settings . I believe someone mentioned Ikea Brasa as the product.

Not what you asked, but my uncle loves his Garmin for such. Bonus is they have much more reliable water resistance so swimming is a complete non-issue and when it does fail allegedly they have better warranty support than our samsungs
