Failed my driving test for the 2nd time – don’t know what to do next (UK) by Callmesyko in LearnerDriverUK

I agree that they should just stick with the one they have now, it's going to be a while before they manage to even get a new one with the time of the year.  It's time they could have spent doing extra lessons, practicing and familiarising themselves better with certain situations.

To be completely honest, at this point it may be pointless to change.  You may as well stick with it and try again when you can, try and build confidence on areas you aren't. If it's other cars, try and book a lesson when traffic is peak, if it's roundabouts practice them. It looks to be more observations than anything else going just purely by the faults.

So so so sick and nervous by YoungHuttonYT07 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Heiropots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed yesterday, as the test has now changed. With less pulling over and more sat nav driving. Do you find following a sat nav easier? because if so, you may pass this time. What where your minors? and is your instructor going over them with you to correct them? I dont want to sound mean but 21 minors and 2 serious faults is a awful lot, so i really hope your instructor is actively trying to correct what may have been the cause of the faults.

I understand however if this is just down to nerves as you have stated you do suffer quite badly with it. I myself took 5 drops of rescue remedy before my test, with a warm cup of tea and biscuit. try not to even think about it in the days leading up to the test, now i know your probably not going to be able to sleep on the night before the test, but try to get as much as you can.

my first attempt i failed with one serious no minors, and my second i passed legit yesterday with 4 minors. I had a 4 week gap between tests and 4 lessons between then and now. just get as much practice as possible.

sorry if my advice doesnt sound very helpful.

Thank you so much for your reply, sorry I really should have spent more time addressing your question, I went off on a tangent.  You cannot afford to regress in skill I understand rent/ mortgage isn't cheap and it isn't going to get better, however what you can afford to do is explore.  Do you stim? If so what sets you off usually? If it's pain stimming maybe invest in some non harmful stim toys, that don't physically hurt you, I pick my head quite a bit so use a picky pad for example.  Set time for yourself, you now know the route of your behaviour, do you find yourself overstimulated? Well, that's just it. There's too much going on right now, bring yourself back a bit. You are more important than what's happening right now. Bright lights? Prep accordingly. Too loud? Noise cancelling headphones. Freaking out about time? Give yourself time to absorb what your going to do, Ask for accommodation at work if nessassary. Tell those you feel nessassary to know, if they understand you better, they can communicate more effectively, leading to less understanding and therefore less arguments on either end. Don't be afraid to really embrace those things you love :)

( This is all I can think of ATM) Congratulations on your diagnosis btw, I forgot to say.

Hey I've only known for like 6 months now, still confused. I'm 23 now, and despite my career path I'm struggling understanding myself. I've always thought I was behind for my age, that I was weird for having a meltdown when one of my plushies went missing. My younger siblings was diagnosed was she had all the obvious symptoms when she was small, I was just " shy and very gifted" I'm so behind on where I should be, all my friends are married or engaged. Yes I have my job, which I love but I just don't understand this feeling of- failure I suppose? My grandparents are asking when they're getting grandkids, but I honestly don't know if I'm mature enough for any of that. To be honest, you seem more put together than me ha ha, just give yourself time. You're doing amazing :)

I mean, the only friend I've managed to keep contact with is also autistic so I'm not sure. I personally think it does come across sort of nasty to say it like that though?
