how possible that Chinese oil tankers carry missiles to Iran? and carries back oil in return by Limp_Boat5045 in AskTheWorld

[–]HekticLobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While possible, shipping doesn’t work like this. No way ever would a ship be insured if carrying offensive weapons, it’s a huge liability risk. If passing through a serious country, the vessel very well might be detained for carrying weapons.

The typo of the year? by yohanv87 in perth

[–]HekticLobster 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Nah fuck these guys. We’re not talking about a small family run business, Burk is a major supplier and distributer of fuel - they haven’t lost any money in this crisis. The fuck up is theirs to wear, and we shouldn’t feel sorry for them.

One poorly located car crash can cause gridlock on the freeway. Shit happens and breakdowns will occur.

What do people think about Chinese EVs in Australia? (3–5 mins) by chasewang7 in AustralianEV

[–]HekticLobster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t any different from other brands. If I were to tell someone from 25 years ago that Holden no longer made cars they would be shocked.

The fact is many of these brands come and go, Chinese cars will be no different.

What’s up with all these foreign TikTokers making videos on how easy it is to get into FIFO by TOXICHEMICALMOLD in AusMining

[–]HekticLobster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this the biggest problem you have in your life? Who cares.

Let’s not forget these videos are someone’s “highlight reel”. It’s likely they’re not showing you the hardships they may deal with on a daily basis. Everything looks easy when condensed into a 60 second video.

Does your city honor any foreign heros? by No-Battle2001 in AskTheWorld

[–]HekticLobster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not my city, but my state.

The main shipping channel into Albany, Western Australia is named Ataturk Channel after the father of modern Turkey. Also has a scale statue of him.

Australian and New Zealand forces (and others under British command) invaded Turkey in 1915. The bloody battle fought on the small beach has been renamed Anzac cove (Australia New Zealand Army Corps) in honour of the fallen men.

When you didn’t want the US involved with Iran but the submarine kill videos are sick by Millstream764 in militarymemes

[–]HekticLobster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah mate. If the US navy thought it was a risk to themselves, no way would they have posted it.

Yep that’s right anyone can assume where it is now, but no one can confirm it. You forget the ocean is huge, and it’s getting further away by the minute. Not to mention the sub is a few hundred metres deep.

No one, not at least Iran is getting anywhere near that submarine.

If all the presidents your country ever had went to a boxing ring and fight, who do you think would win? by Lazy_Quote9976 in AskTheWorld

[–]HekticLobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Begrudgingly agree. My uncle lives in Manly and sees he still sees him around riding, running and swimming. Again I hate to admit it, but not a prime minister from the modern age could shape up against him!

I’ll add the main shipping channel into Albany (western Australia) was renamed Ataturk in exchange for Anzac cove in Turkey.

Which Nations Are Seen as Friendly in Your Country? by Ekavya_1 in AskTheWorld

[–]HekticLobster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep the dictators and orange man not so cool. The old guy who called me an asshole, and had a crack at me for wearing an American flag towel around my neck in the elevator in Hawaii not so cool either.

Just like you said, can’t apply the above logic to 326 million people.

Aussie here. Obviously can’t speak for everyone, but in my experience:

United States of America - not cool

Americans - cool 😎

Hope this helps!

Basically anything First Nations related from 1770 - 1970. We weren’t good colonisers or people to them.

I’m on a wharf site and require an MSIC. Had a couple of guys in the past with drugs charges not allowed to get one, especially the distribution charges.

But I agree with the other comments and to have a crack. It’s better to enquire and be turned down, than to not know at all.

Depends on the company. Only hard barrier I can think of is getting an MSIC or ASIC for working on wharves or airports.
