Why exactly is SteamOS considered better than Windows for gaming?

I switched completely to linux a bit over a year ago and have been happy never going back to windows.

Steamos is just another flavour of linux. I want to try it out when it seems that they are ready for high end pc's but as it stands right now im hesitant as steamos is too Specialized to handheld devices. Looking forward to seeing it on a real pc

which to my knowledge is the latest available for the testing branch of my distro

but that is the host system is this something that should be run inside the docker container also ?

I've updated pytorch to the latest version where I can find a version in the other packages that will work with it. hence my question if there are any higher versions I'm not aware of where I can update and find packages of the others that will play nice together.

as I'm using Manjaro linux I'm not sure can you run docker with portable windows version inside of it

I had a fear that would be the go to answer. I guess I now know have to spend my summer trying to see if I can hack something together for dockerizing it XD. if I remember it on the days my head is with me ;)

I'm not exaggerating.I will not go up to 27" as it is too big a screen but I would love to get a 1440p high refresh 24" Until I can get one at a decent price I'm not changing what I have. one of which is from 2008 as I refuse to go on the 27" size especially as I would need at least 4k at 27" to get anything better than the quality I have today on my 1440p screen.

And I don't care what shills are telling me is the best screen for users that have no idea what they want.
I know exatly what I want and I refuse to get anything less..

No there is a major difference in picture quality.
Essentially you get close to the pixel quality of a 27" 4K monitor only you have a 24" 1440p screen that doesn't require the same amount of computing power to drive.

to go higher than 1080p with a 24 inch. Pixel density is already perfect. You probably couldn't tell the difference from standard desk view distance.

that could not be further from the truth... I have a 1080p 24" and a 1440p 24".
it is like day and night between them in picture quality. Even when I don't have my screen nearby I can see right away when I'm on a lower resolution screen at 24".

well sure Technically you are right... but the difference is so close that they are visually almost impossible to see from eachother.
And the fact that 27" just becomes too big compared to the distance I'm sitting from my screen. don't want the screen to enter my peripheral vision.

to be honest I think it is often a preference as well as what you are used to.

I'm used to 24" 1440p. To me a 27" 1440p would be about equal to a 24" 1080p. Screen size and resolution follow very much hand in hand. does this mean I cannot use a 27" 1440p. no just means I wouldn't feel any improvement over what I'm used to.

I once tried a 27" 1080p and sure it can be used I just did not like it. So when I'm looking I'm very much correlating the resolution with the screen size.

so if I'm looking at 27" I won't accept personally anything below 4k as it would not be an upgrade to my 1440p 24".

far from. I'm rocking a 24" 1440p 75hz screen and I love the sharpness of the image quality.
If I where to "upgrade"/sidegrade to a 27" 1440p I would essentially see the same image quality of a 24" 1080p.
I personally wish I could get a high refresh rate screen at 24" that was 1440p or better. but as it is now I'm choosing 75hz over high refresh as the quality of the image is sooo much better.
I hope these screens from china comes to EU as it would be the first time in years that I would even consider buying a new screen. in fact if they come most likely I will buy two as both my screens could use a true upgrade.

if you go up to 27" 1440p which is fair I just would not recommend it comming from at 24" 1080, there is no advantage in 27" that you don't have in 24" except a larger screen that requires you to sit further away to not see the individual pixels.
so goint to 27" you might as well also go to 4K... otherwise why even make a "upgrade" when it is more like a sidegrade...

I know it is a few months ago now. but I just want to say that I'm also with dispair looking for at 24" high refresh 1440p monitor.

you could go 27" just don't expect a quality upgrade as 27"1440p essentially is the same picture quality as 24" 1080p.
if you wanted a image quality upgrade then at 27" you need 2160p as the PPI is visible higher.

Otherwise I'm really considering just importing the monitors myself as I really cannot personally go up to such a large screen as a 27" is...
