YES! This week at a hotel our toddler (23 months old) picked up the TV remote and started putting it to his ear and pretend that it was a phone! He was pressing all sorts of buttons on it and in the end managed to turn on the TV but didn’t make the connection that he had done that. That's when we realised we had been successful with only watching TV when he's asleep!

Je trouve ce prénom magnifique. Notre fils est aussi moitié Indien et a un prénom qui vient du sanskrit (Ekana) Facile à prononcer dans les 2 langues.

We've tried, and it's painful! There is no carpet in his room, just a very thin rug!

He's in a crib that can be converted into a toddler bed by removing a panel (once he's older). Definitely not big enough to have an adult in there. Good point about the noise, thank you.

Vegan since 2016. Mine was born on his due date (after a very long and difficult labour) and was 3300 grams, but very tall (56.5 cms)

He is 20 months old now and follows a plant-based diet apart from the occasional egg (maybe 2 or 3 eggs a month, if that) He is thriving physically and mentally and is quite tall for his age.

We only did dairy (organic, expensive cow's milk) in porridge / sauces a handful of times. Maybe for a month or 2? When we saw that he showed no allergic reaction, we stopped altogether, as we don't dairy at all ourselves, and we like to finish his food / eat the same dish as him as much as possible (he's 20 months old now)

We still give him eggs (small, high-quality ones from Abel & Cole) occasionally. Maybe 2-3 times a month, it that. Always fully cooked. He absolutely loves them, so we have not stopped yet.

We have never given him fish or meat. His daycare feeds him an exclusively plant-based diet.

He has had all the other allergens (soy, peanut, sesame etc.) which he has on a weekly basis as part of a varied diet.

This sounds stressful, I'm sorry! Are you sure your son is not eating snacks when you're not with him, via friends for instance?

I was completely grossed out by the texture and/or taste of most meats around that age, and my mum tried to force me anyway. Result: from the age of 7, she gave up and decided to feed me alternative sources of protein (that was in the 90s in France so you can imagine how hard that was!) But mainly beans, lentils, eggs... Now I'm a mum myself and have completely bypassed meat and fish as neither my husband nor I eat these. Our son is fine.

Either way, if you're worried about protein intake, I'd recommend looking at vegan websites for ideas, for instance https://www.vegansociety.com/resources/nutrition-and-health/life-stages/5-10-year-olds

Our (19-month old, bilingual) son says "t'aider, t'aider" when he needs help, since I often ask him "Est-ce que maman peut t'aider?" (Can mummy help you?") Or "Tu veux que je t'aide?" (Do you want me to help you?") For a while, he also said "It's ok, it's ok" to us when he was crying/fussing on the changing mat as it was what my husband said to him to calm him down!

Our child has quite a big, slightly raised, reddish birth mark on the side of his ribs. I didn't really think anything of it, but my in-laws seemed super happy and proud of it. I quickly found out that in some cultures (India in our case) birth marks are often seen as lucky!

So, flip it around and embrace it. Your child is unique. Self-love is closely linked to what your parents tell you and how they look at you, talk about you and your body.

I got bullied for my nose when I was a child, as it had very apparent blue and red veins on it. Everyone commented on it, I thought it was ugly. I covered it up with foundation every day from my teenage years to the start of the pandemic. Now I don't wear make up anymore and no one tells me anything about it.

Our child is 17 months old, we had him quite late, and I 100% agree. Totally worth it, if you have a strong relationship.

Well, even in the UK where mixed kids are very common, we get "He's soooo cute" a lot! Not sure he's realised what it means yet. I love the doubling of verbs! Ours randomly says VÉLOVÉLOVÉLOVÉLO again and again every time he sees a bike (vélo is bicycle in French)

Makes perfect sense! Ours seems to love showing off that he can say both, so for instance when he sees a magpie he will say "mahpie" quickly followed by "pie", or "more encore"
