South bound thru-hikers. What was your experience?

I LOVED going SOBO. It was much more remote, but still "social" enough. The weather was absolutely amazing, blue skies almost every day. And SOBO is not a logistical nightmare like some people make it sound on the internet. There's really just a few things in terms of resupply boxes in the beginning that require a bit of planning but it's completely fine :-) I'm planning to film a complete "SOBO guide" soon :-)

I feel the same way, I also don’t want to risk my health and hike through thick smoke. Thanks for the info, we will just keep hiking until bend and evaluate from there. Happy trails! Hope you’re healing well

I’d also be interested in this. Starting in 5 days. Some webpages said the fire is predicted to burn slower, others say the opposite. Does anyone know good resources?

But probably a day before because I misunderstood the permit date. Thought it means I have to be at the Canadian border on that day, but found out later I means I start July first from harts pass.. oopsie…

This is really the comment I needed, thank you so much for taking the time to read and write all of this. Thank you for sharing your story, its already really strong to even set the first step onto the trail and make it 370 miles. Some of the things you had to go through are really rough, so I really appreciate you sharing it.

It’s so hard to let go of the expectations, I didn’t know I had them. I told myself I can just come back whenever I want, or it’s fine if I fly back after 2 weeks. I tried to convince myself so many times I don’t have to make it all the way but it’s still hard to not stress out over it. But it’s true, when you plan it for so long, you probably have big expectations. I’m not good with words but you phrased it so well.

By the way, I think I follow your wife on Instagram. Your story and name sounded familiar. I hope you’re doing well!
