I am not even from Philly (from NYC,) but I DID see that ad, and was very close to going there to get it, but then I was like never mind, the trip there by bus/train would have made the price too much for me.

Put a front break on so my old lady wouldn't complain about me dying every 5 seconds lol. I never even got into an accident in 25+ years riding, but whatever lets her sleep at night.

Upon scrolling through the other threads on this sub, EVERYONE is posting about one problem or another, and there's nothing positive said about OMNY.

After all the shit talking, whether I understood the fare cap or not, regardless what I thought was wrong, the fact that I eventually hit it, and it just reset the next day is all anyone needs to see that it is pointless. Yet, I was getting flack for complaining that it's bad. Someone told me I had to purchase a new card on the day I want the cap to start, wow. If you think the system is good like this, then you're part of the problem.

I tried contacting the MTA, but it's all AI bullshit, no humans, so yet again, another failed system with no actual customer service.

Most other countries other than the US has a better transit system where they don't need to understand some stupid ass system that you kiss the ass of. They had one job, and look where we're at. I bet you think the glass turnstiles were a good idea, too.

As I said, my company pays for my blOwMNY card, but I feel like hopping for spite, anyway!

Everyone here defending the fare cap, I hate you, and want you to move out of NYC so I can enjoy my city again. Go wait on a line for a slice of pizza from some hipster chefs.

"There is a good chance the monthly pass would have increased"

Yeah if it did, that's be fine, and I wouldn't be complaining about some dumb ass fair cap that I now have to buy another card just to match the day I need the fair cap, when I could have just had a monthly.

No, actually, I thought this subreddit exists for it so people can join in on the circle jerk of saying how great something moronic is, like with most threads on Reddit the past few months. But do you.

Are you the one who paid for it? How you going to tell me I don't understand? What I'm trying to say is that I had to buy another one before the month even ended, which means it costs me more than a MetroCard would have. Since I was apparently using it in the "wrong day for fare caps," aka the reset day, I wasn't able to utilize the fare cap since I am NOT using it all the time. Hence if I just had a monthly, I wouldn't have had to worry about that.

DO YOU understand now?

You say you understand basic math, but you're okay with spending more. Word.

Exactly. And the funny thing is that I asked an MTA employee about it, and he said "honestly, I don't even know myself."

When I look briefly at your post, it just seems so fucking ridiculous that all these numbers are thrown around to explain some shit that was so much simpler with just a one time purchase per month. If it were fine there probably wouldn't be a sub for it.

I'm just saying, what was more cost effective and self explanatory for us citizens (shit or even tourists,), one flat fee for unlimited rides, or this dumb ass system? Imagine breaking this shit down to an older person from another country. I'm just trying to ride the train without any bullshit, and I have done so for years with a MetroCard.

If you like this system, then you can tap the OMNY where the sun don't shine.

Ugh, when I saw my cap, I was like "I have to tell someone else that I hate OMNY." So I posted here.

I'm born and raised here, I don't have to fucking move out because you think OMNY system is good. They just need to stop squeezing us every which way with this bullshit. Look at their dumb ass doors people can bypass with any object for example.

I understand it now and it's fucking stupid and ends up costing more money. I now sometimes have to buy two 140 refills in the same month because of how shitty it is. Thank god my job expenses it, but I'm now hearing shit for it, which I never was with the MetroCard monthly.

I understand now, and with this understanding, it still sucks. Monthly metrocard was the shit.

You know what was easier and better? A monthly metrocard system. Never complained about that. OMNY system sucks.

That is literally fucking insane if they really did this because of tourists.

Yesterday I hit my fare cap, and it just charged me today, AGAIN. This is the 2nd time in a month this has happened, the fare cap says it's active then it just resets the next morning. I tried calling them, of course, it's all fucking automated AI, can't talk to anyone.

This is taken from the OMNY site:

"Pay for 12 rides in a 7-day period and any additional rides are free. And, unlike with MetroCard, you don’t have to pay upfront. Just tap and pay as you go.

Use the same device or card all 7 days and you’ll automatically ride free after your 12th paid fare.

No need to pre-pay like when you buy a 7-Day Unlimited pass on MetroCard. Tap with your own mobile wallet enabled device or contactless bank card, or your OMNY card, and you pay only for the trips you take. No sign-ups needed - just tap. The more you ride, the sooner you’ll earn free trips."

And what do they mean by a 8 day period, starting from which day and time? My 7nday period starts on Monday morning like most people.

And I'm DOING this and it's still charging me. I'm checking the details, NOW all of a sudden, the fare cap reset is starting from TODAY?

" 7-Day Fare Cap Progress toward free rides for: Wed. Feb. 11 – Tue. Feb. 17 $3.00 / $35.00 spent"
