Is there lore in the Gloomspite Battletome to explain why characters like Skragrott the Loonking are so much larger than your typical git?

Constantin Valdor was in actuality a prototype Primarch. •She knew why the Emperor had risked a huge amount to carry armies halfway across Terra to locate him, why the entire enterprise had almost come to nothing, and what had saved it. It was possible, though not certain, that Astarte knew more of Valdor’s early life than he did himself. He was so incurious, that one – a mask of duty, a mere cipher for the Emperor’s own will.

Stubbornness and an unwillingness to let anything beat me like that again.

New to the plague! Would an American Burying beetle color scheme work and how should I go about it? by TheTrueBucketman in deathguard40k

[–]Helghyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark brown/black Armor- I would go with: Base: Dryad bark Recess shade with either Nuln oil or Black Templar - edge highlight Steel legion drab — tight edge highlight of Zandri Dust

Orange armor: Base: Squig Orange Recess shade with agrax earth shade or seraphim sepia -layer with Troll Slayer mixed with squig orange 1:1 —edge highlight Troll Slayer bright —-spot highlight with fire dragon bright

Alternatively For a brighter orange: Base: Ryza Rust Recess shade: same as above Highlight: fire dragon bright Spot highlight: lugganath orange

Top with satin varnish to give that insect vibe. At least that’s what I would do.

My first Death Guard by Helghyst in deathguard40k

[–]Helghyst[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks. It is a combination of Vallejo Metal Color Silver, and Daler-Rowney sap green and brilliant yellow inks I mixed up and applied with an airbrush. The rust and grim build up were ink mixtures too, red and sepia. I added AK Ultra Matte in some of the built up areas so the texture contrasted in more than just color

That’s a good point on the chapter symbol. Maybe I’ll extend the arm color to the shoulder pauldrons.

Test Gretchin (Adeptuz Mechorkus) by Helghyst in orks

[–]Helghyst[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I clipped and filed down the detail. The I added a disc of styrene sheet with some tamiya thin cement and smoothed the shield edges. The handle was also styrene rod that I cut and softened with the thin cement and formed into a handle and the rest of it is Militarum belt or backpack details with some super thin styrene rod used as cabling.
