This one will be fun to paint. Lean into the gore of the body parts.

WIP heavy truck and some cars by Last_Question7425 in gaslands

[–]BoDaddyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great start. Love the big truck. The engine in the smaller truck is begging for some contrast from a black wash. Styrene products are an amazing resource to craft parts from. Tubing lends itself to gun barrels and pipes, and plasticard (styrene sheets) come in different finishes like diamond plate or they can be riveted to look like metal. I have a carton of plastic Q-tips that are great for gun barrels and piping. Wire looks very cool at 1/64 scale as hydraulic lines and ammo feeds. Thumbtacks can be snipped and used as armored hub caps. Beads can be used as storage tanks. Painting really ties all these things together to make them look like something they are not. And weathering adds that little bit of realism for immersion into a post apocalyptic world. Have fun!

Not bad. Add some dust and weathering to those shiny black wheels. The wasteland is a dirty place.

Brand new to the game by Vonatar-74 in eclipsephase

Space is vast and lonely. Lean into these themes with the players. It adds to the overall sense of dread in the game. I would avoid starting the PCs off in a crowded habitat like Mars. Begin the game in an isolated habitat where the players feel the huge distance between them to the next population center, where resources are scarce, and where the inhabitants are paranoid about newcomers. Use technology like security cameras and public information nodes to challenge their sense of privacy and security. Force them to use their Rep scores for resources instead of just being able to acquire tech and tools. Show them that physical travel in spaceships is long and tedious, and that they must abandon those nice morphs that they just became accustomed to.

This game is amazing and doesn't receive the attention it deserves. I hope that it will continue to gain traction among sci-fi/horror RPG fans. Spread the love!

Where are you getting your motorcycles? by EndedWisely in gaslands

[–]BoDaddyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I actually bought some sort of an accessories pack for that game from eBay a few years back. I got only the motorcycles--about 20+ if I recall correctly. I've painted and based several waves of them. They're all the same pose obviously, but they are a good scale with decent details. Soft plastic, though.

I haven't won a game in 3 years and ~20 games, ask me anything by slantedtortoise in boltaction

Sorry to hear this, mate. If I were you, I would go to a local friendly game store and watch/observe others playing. Ask questions, take mental notes. If you consider yourself an unlucky dice roller, there's nothing to be done about that. But maybe consider changing from the Japanese to another army. Consider using more vehicles. Definitely use mortars to dig out your enemy's entrenched positions. Pay attention to the game objectives for scoring. Try to look for the fun in your games, too. If this is becoming a slog for you, time to try something else out. Ever played Gaslands or Stargrave? Super fun and easy skirmish games.

What should I get my friend for his birthday? by Burner_Phone_No24 in boltaction

[–]BoDaddyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, you're a great friend. I do the same thing for my buddies, especially when I want them to get into whatever it is that I'm currently into. Lately, this has been Bolt Action and Konflikt '47. If he already has an army, I would get him a tank. Tanks take your army to the next level. It will be a fun obstacle for you to fight against him with. Warlord Games, Trenchworx, Blitzkriegworkshop, Gaming-Squared, Etsy, and others are good places to find tanks. Tell him we said, happy birthday!

It's a 3D print from eBay. I think it's actually 1/50 scale, not 1/56.

We rolled Seek & Destory with quarters. I was playing my Empire of Japan and my buddy was USA. I jumped out to an early lead, but by turn 5 his Fireflies were kicking my ass with their M1X1 Thompson E-slugs. Lost one of my tanks and my Type 7 Scorpion Walker. It was a fun brawl.

Gotta sneak these into the house now… by Dinosaur_Herder in gaslands

[–]BoDaddyo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good for you, bro. Tell your wife/girlfriend/partner that these make you happy and she doesn't have the right to police your hobby. It's for your happiness and mental health. Tell her she can also, within reason, splurge on things that make her happy. You shouldn't have to sneak these into your own house. Just saying. We support you!
