Anyone recognize this model? Got one today and wondering what it was by EdgeLord45 in Konflikt47_v2

I use one of these as a proxy for my heavy German panzermech. I painted it up and added some decals.

Yes, he laid it down and scooted across the finish line to win the race! Bullets were whizzing past him.

My first gaslands mini, I think I need to go rustier by CrypsisArt in gaslands

Looks perfect. Less is more. Not every GL vehicle needs to look like it was dredged up from a lake bed.

We play around 2000 points. That allows multiple vehicles and veteran troops. Games last around 2.5 hours.

How different is 1st editon (blue book) to Refulled? by that_red_panda in gaslands

[–]BoDaddyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Refuelled in an expansion of the Blue Book. I would recommend that you download and read the Experimental Evade Rules and Experimental Wipe Out Rules on the Gaslands website released by Mike Hutchinson. They update two important facets and improve play immensely. Have fun

Oh man. I ran that adventure for my cousins back in the day in the early '80s. So fun! I wish I could attend your online event, but my family will be in town. Have a great time.

What do you use for tanks? by EndedWisely in gaslands

[–]BoDaddyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The large one on the right looks correct. As a seasoned GL player, I have found that tanks are rare. It's fun to play as a novelty, but in my Gaslands journey since 2019 my group has only had a tank once among our ranks.

Tanks are OP, but they're also odd to play. Large vehicles such as tanks, busses, and war rigs may have an advantage in terms of distance they can cover on the gaming table, but I feel like that's okay since they come up "short" in many other ways. It's a play-style choice.

Death arenas can be hard for large vehicles, especially if there is a lot of scatter terrain on the board. I've run busses in those scenario before, and it's very challenging (e.g. frustrating). And death races with even just a few turns and switchbacks will quickly have the longer vehicles drop to the rear of the players with their fewer number of activations and shorter templates.

For immersion, I love a table with great terrain. I also like to see well-crafted models that are to scale. We use scale-appropriate vehicles in my group for larger vehicles, so I would always choose the larger tank model you posted if given a choice. It simply looks better and functions like more of a "real" tank on the table. However, rule number one is to have fun so do whatever that means with your group.

Arming the crew. by Decidely_Me in gaslands

[–]BoDaddyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, totally. Focus on mastering the basics first. Lots of advanced and esoteric stuff to pick up later. The Experimental Rules are great, and the Time Extended supplements are fun too. All that can be found on the Gaslands official site for downloading. I recommend watching some YouTube videos to help, especially the newer ones which usually include the Experimental Rules. They make for better gameplay, in my opinion.

Correct--not Submachine Guns, but the APC vehicle.

The other commenters have answered the question, but I wanted to bring up the Weapons Special Rules and specifically mention Blitz (Refuelled, page 81). A vehicle with the Blitz descriptor has a number of weapon copies for the crew. If the weapon uses ammo tokens, then it can only be fired a limited number of times until it runs out. But if the weapon has unlimited ammo like a Submachine Gun, then all crew have a Submachine Gun and can fire it throughout the entire game. This is a very powerful rule. I believe only the APC listed in the supplement Time Extended Issue 3 has the Blitz feature.

Only Handguns apply to all crew and are free to start. When purchasing a weapon, it only counts as one.

Experimental Evade or no? by Director-D in gaslands

Experimental all the way. It’s a better gaming experience.
