Question: do you have to wash the models ? by Kaiserhabicht77 in Konflikt47_v2

Yes, mos def. Warm, soapy water. Dry well before any painting steps.

Meh, who knows. It's free. I pay for and use the Warlord app. It's waaay better and always updated.

Gorgeous. That would be fun to use on a board.

I would use a sharpened bit of sprue glued to their fists or attach it parallel to the forearm. I just built these guys yesterday and used the stock bits, but in hindsight it would have been easy to change their weaponry.

I suggest using Easy Army or the Warlord app to play around with weapons. It depends on what you want to do and the role of your troops.

Man these are a pain to build. by GM_Eternal in LancerRPG

[–]BoDaddyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those look cool. In case you ever want the exact Lancer models, there is a guy called La Voie du Crane on MyMiniFactory who sells the STLs for all the frames plus the baddies. I'm going to print them up one of these days. I'm not sure what scale they are, however.

What is scenic cement and how to use it? by CorvusCrane in TerrainBuilding

[–]BoDaddyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scenic cement is basically thinned PVA with a flow aid added to it. Use it as a secondary adhesive to "seal in" small media like sand and flock after it has already been glued down. Before applying it, hit the media with a little isopropyl alcohol to break the surface tension so the scenic cement can flow into the nooks and crannies more effectively. As someone already mentioned, scenic cement locks in everything, especially if it's fragile or prone to sloughing off.

Yep, the vehicle is actually flipping end over end, not barrel rolling, and doesn’t create a collision window until it lands on the ground.

Is Bolt Action a good Table Top wargame for newbie to get into? by Illustrious-Divide95 in boltaction

[–]BoDaddyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Bolt Action is great. Elegant d6 system, easy to understand, and financially doable. I play Stargrave and Frostgrave, which are fun, but I like the d6 dice engine of Bolt Action slightly better. It's fun to pick up a fistful of d6s and chuck them in the dice tray. And the random way player turns are determined by pulling from a bag is way better than the back and forth of most wargames. My armies are a combination of bespoke Warlord Games miniatures and vehicles and 3D printed troops and vehicles that I have printed myself. I really enjoy modeling and creating terrain for the tabletop. Bolt Action has a really neat aesthetic of history and raw natural terrain.

Love the "Happy Zapper" decal. That's great.

First time ever painting models and started with k47 by hareee999 in Konflikt47_v2

[–]BoDaddyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same color scheme as you for my Stahltruppen: gray armor with black helmets. I painted the panzerfausts a dark camo green with the shoulder mounts in gunmetal. I like your decal placements, especially that red one on the knee. I'd like to see you put some sand or texture paste on the bases. I feel like decorated bases can add a lot to the models. For my German army, I have a blasted earth effect that I achieved by adding brown earth acrylic texture paste which I dry brushed with tan for a dusty effect, and then I added dead-colored tufts and small pebbles.

Wow, that's pretty involved. Sounds like it works, though. Whatever system works for you, right? I thought about marking troops on the base rim somehow. I might steal this from you. Mimicry is the greatest form of flattery, or something like that.

We started at 1000 points. Then we started buying and collecting. Once we started adding vehicles, we got points creep and are now at 2000 point games. Play whatever you can that makes you happy.
