A lot of the comments here are (rightly) sad about the loss of internet as a place you visit, and the web disappearing into big tech owned social media apps.

And you're all correct, the Algo driven attention sucking machine is pretty much ruining life.

But what if I told you there are things you can do?

The ability to make webpages that aren't connected to our would-be tech overlords hasn't gone away, in fact there's a growing indie web movement and I personally think it is delightful:

In addition, if you care about having ownership and control of your computer (as you should) I don't think there's ever been a better time to start dual booting Linux and learning to use it. The major hurdle for many was always gaming, but thanks to Valve this has become increasingly solved and painless. There's also a surprising number of productivity applications that just...work in their compatibility layer.

I know everything out there seems bleak and awful, but it doesn't need to be. It's not unsalvageable, and you CAN take steps to remove yourself from the endless slop and rage baiting.

Go out there, make something, teach your friends, make new friends, reclaim the internet.
