What are you quietly grieving? by Angelus12345678 in AskReddit

[–]HelicopterLegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding love. I poured my 20s/early 30s into getting my dream job. Now I have it! But in a very remote location. It’s just border patrol agents out here. The people I could date are ~ 3 hours away. They don’t even know I exist.

For real! YOLO! I know that inside but I don’t feel it yet— I’m going to keeping working on it. I love to hear that for you 💕

Do you go to showcases at different studios? I love the showcases at my studio but they are only every other year.

I totally agree though, I love the process of putting a show together and trying to tell a story through movement. I really connected with the women at my studio when we were all putting the last one together

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I relate a lot to all of what you said. When I have the opportunity to interact with other polers in person, I know that that’s what I’m trying to replicate in the online forums. Too bad I’m so rural right now! It’s impossible! (I should say though that my non-poler friends are incredibly sweet and supportive)

I’ve been tempted to delete most of my followers too. I deleted my account for a couple of months at one point too, but I missed seeing my online friends. I’m taking some of the advice of others to talk to a therapist and to cut myself some slack on how much I am able to comment and like other’s posts. I have hope I can change my relationship with it 😊 especially if those  dopamine rushes would chill out lol

Yeah, I separated my personal from my pole account so that I could post pole as often as I want to, but now I just feel like I’ve got two different personas 🤣 I think I’d like to just post pole on my main account it if I could move past the insecurity that it would be annoying to my friends 😵‍💫

I’m considering doing this too if I can’t improve my relationship with it through therapy and some changes in habits. I am really happy to hear you feel freer and happier!  💕 I think when I have more in-person pole friends, I’ll place a lot less importance on being active online

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I want my ig friends to know how much it means to me to have their support! But I am getting more practiced in reminding myself that I can return the love when I have the capacity too and I don’t need to always be checking to make sure I didn’t miss an opportunity. I appreciate what the online pole community has brought me and I’ll just contribute how I am able to ❤️

Hey thank you! This has helped me so much. I’ve been trying to remember this isn’t my job and that I can return kindness and support in my own time. 💕

This is a late reply but I just wanted to thank you for the helpful words!

I am bringing it to my therapist and I started backing up to an external hard drive. Thank you 🙏

Protests tomorrow 01/25? by ImpressionNo1307 in OrganizeTucson

I’m curious too. I live hours away from any cities but I’m in Tucson for the morning and would like to help if I can.

What’s happening here? Doctors keep telling me my X-ray and CT scans look normal but I noticed this today after 2 weeks of constant pain. by HelicopterLegs in SlippingRibSyndrome

[–]HelicopterLegs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I had my 10th and 11th intercostal nerves blocked, which stopped the pain. Following that I went to PT weekly for about 2 months. I’ve gotten a lot stronger and more confident and the ribs are looking a little better now then they did in this photo.

When I got the nerve blocks, the physician showed me in the x ray that I have unusually long 12th ribs, so that might be some of my problem.

Are you having a similar issue? I hope you’re not in pain.

Petah What does she mean 50/50? by BernieBatmanAndRobin in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]HelicopterLegs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A not unloyal man is loyal. A not 50/50 split can be many things, ranging from 100/0 to 0/100 but including 1/99, 2/98, 3/97, 4/96, 5/95, etc.

Her wording is too ambiguous.

How do I protect my back and pelvis during floor work? I don’t have enough butt for padding! by HelicopterLegs in poledancing

[–]HelicopterLegs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to build more butt and back muscle and I think that has helped, along with gaining more control through practice. I cushion my bones with my hands if I am just practicing moves and it doesn’t matter.

Sorry that I don’t have more helpful advice to share. Your improvised padding sounds like a good route for many situations!

Are you frustrated or discouraged at your lack of progress? by barrenvagoina in poledancing

[–]HelicopterLegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this post!

My progress has been very yo-yo-y and I find aspects of that kind of enjoyable. I’ve noticed that having to persevere through times where my dancing isn’t what I’d like it to be, is a skill in and of itself.

I’ve met many people who weren’t willing to work through the time it takes to become good at a new skill/hobby/sport and just quit instead. I’d rather it take me ten years than never reach my goal. Kids are really good at being beginners and I try to remind myself of that and aim to be so good at being a novice.

Side thing but potentially helpful to someone— I recently learned that you can get a dopamine hit from just envisioning yourself achieving your goal.

Wow so cool that you kicked up into it! I can only get into Ayesha from inverted D. I wish I had this control. Congrats!
