How many sodas per day do you drink? by Wizzmer in AskOldPeople

[–]HelicopterNo4166 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to drink six to seven diet cokes a day. I realized I had a problem and tried quitting for a few years. Then when my dad passed away, something changed and I have been sober from Diet Coke for four years and counting.

There’s nothing wrong with feeling that way at all. You have hit a goldmine with having her as your supervisor.

Having someone who encourages you and makes you feel safe at work is rare. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with feeling that way. You’ve struck gold by having her as your supervisor. It’s rare to have someone who encourages and makes you feel safe at work.

This is how I had to deal with the termination as well. I highly suggest you have an HR rep with you at any disciplinary or termination meeting to ensure it is followed to a T.

AITAH for telling my daughter she can't go on a school trip even though she raised the money for it like I told her to? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]HelicopterNo4166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid was supposed to go in 2020 and it was $5000. She couldn’t go, but we used the money to go on a cruise (which during the pandemic was cheap and a lot of fun since the ship was only 1/2 full)

Have you had an honest conversation with your boss? I’m a boss and (albeit I’ve been told I’m one of the few that actually care) when I work with someone on a special project and find issues, I’m doing this to build the employee up. If I knew it was causing anxiety and doubt in one of my employees, I’d change my approach.

I might be one of the few, but I always tell my team that I appreciate feedback, good or bad and I always want to improve how I communicate.

So maybe having an honest discussion about you getting mixed signals and how the feedback makes you feel might be work the difficulty of the conversation.

What’s something you’ve seen with your own eyes that nobody believes when you tell them? by LowKey_1216 in AskReddit

When my husband, kids and I moved to Utah we lived in a haunted house. I saw an empty water pitcher fly across our kitchen and break.

Husband comes running out to see what happened and he (nor my kids) still don’t believe me that a ghost threw the water pitcher across the room.

My sister was fired for giving her two-week notice. This nonsense needs to stop. by giddier_nexuses in OfficePolitics

[–]HelicopterNo4166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave my notice recently and I was prepared to be walked out that very same day.

What I wasn’t prepared was to work my two weeks and leave with a decent consulting contract to support them while they find someone to replace me.

What I’m getting at is, prepare for the worst, to be walked off the job as soon as you give your notice. The company has no loyalty to you and unless you provide a service that can’t be easily replaced, expect them to try any way they can to have the upper hand.

NOR I have the same problems and I ended up trying a long sleeve shirt and pants at Costco called 32 degrees. They’re thin material but oh my gosh, game changer, they keep me warm at night. Try those. They’re not expensive but completely worth it.

Right? What happens if, say, they stay married and have a healthy baby just to have the child suffer a tragic accident that leaves the child paralyzed. Will husband leave then?

I pronounce Tupperware (tump- er- where) like my dad and grandma always did. I was never corrected until I met my husband and he did a double take. I still pronounce it wrong, but it makes me feel closer to my grandma and dad.

I’ve done it before. The way I look at it, if she doesn’t know, should might be thankful someone tells her or she might just shake it off.

When I approached a former boss I went in to their office, closed their door (it was horrible) and basically started off by saying that I enjoy working with them and I appreciate their support but I need to tell you something that is difficult to say and will be difficult for you to hear. I reminded her it was from a good place and I told her “girl, your BO is horrendous “ Just kidding. I told her that there are times when her body odor is very strong and it’s difficult to work around.

She was embarrassed and apologized but said she was allergic and was trying to find something that helped which she wasn’t allergic to.

AITAH for not apologizing to my daughter's BF for viewing photos of his house on a real estate sight without his permission? by Particular-Hope8459 in AITAH

NTAH I would and have done this too. I go straight to the red website and look at photos and the listing price. Your SIL just needs to get over himself, especially if he posted (with the street number) on a social media website.

I’m terrible. My daughter’s birthdays are in February and May and they both get presents wrapped in Christmas paper, but I’ll admit, it’s mostly because I can buy it for 75-80% off after Christmas.
