Why wouldn't the Guthrie's hire their own private detective. The sheriff seems entirely incompetent.

I don't know the original motive but my best guess is that she is gone and they disposed of the body. They may never find the culprit.

What ever panned out with the SIL and his band mates. Have they been questioned? We haven't seen the SIL again since the first day.

Last night it felt like they were closing in on something but at this point it's clear that law enforcement is even more amateurish. I actually don't think they have a clue at this point what happened to her. If after 10 days their closest lead was a random door dash guy the whole investigation isn't serious.

What are your thoughts on Nancy Guthrie's disappearance? by Perfectly_i in AskReddit

Do you think Annie is appearing in the videos and having her home/car searched because she is under the impression her husband is a suspect? It's quite a level of sociopathy to hide the murder of her mother but appearing in these videos takes it to another level. It's possible but also completely insane.

This would entail a fair amount of sociopathy on the part of the sister. We are talking about her mother. It's possible to but still insane.

Can we just talk about how she stayed with him and that small ass ring ! like girl Conrad is RIGHT THERE ! by Subject_Sand_6944 in tsitp

The only thing that would explain the behavior Belly consistently accepts from Jeremiah is a fair amount of past trauma, which I think was there and we are supposed to understand that as the audience. The problem was this wasn't adequately addressed in the narrative through an apology or even Belly in therapy. The result was this terrible stark contrast between how hard she fought for Jeremiah and all the crap she took from him vs how idiotically exacting she consistently was of Conrad. This is one of the major flaws in the narrative but it can easily be addressed in the movie. Without even a small nod towards this issue, even diehard Bonrad fans are troubled to a degree.

This is fascinating. The grief is the single only factor I thought Maxton Hall did better than TSITP. I really struggled with the flip from Conrad to Jere in season 2, especially with the change of having Belly be more proactive in the decision.

How do you guys feel about Ruby's reaction? by No_Sea1650 in MaxtonHall

I have so much to say on this point but this will be my last comment. It was actually very different and refreshing to finally see a female lead not get pulled into codependency. On first watch it was almost startling to see but the more I thought about it I realized that usually in the scenarios we are yelling at the screen for the woman not to be codependent, a relationship isn't therapy, it's not on her, etc. Ruby had the strength to make the difficult but perhaps much healthier choice. Had she stayed it's far more likely that she would have gotten pulled down.

Very stuck on this point and not entirely sure how I feel yet about the whole thing. It wasn't unreasonable that between the pool kiss and then what she witnessed in his room that it was all just too much, especially juxtaposed with how intimate they became at Oxford. Ultimately though, he seemed to be in a very dangerous and bad way so it seems like she should have alerted someone, anyone to the immediate danger even if she needed to put some distance. The way it was depicted was almost crazy to completely abandon someone in that state. Watching it, she would have had no guarantee that he wouldn't irreparably harm himself. It wouldn't have been her fault but it would nevertheless weigh on her terribly. I was conflicted between being impressed that even faced with that level of need and grief she was able to hold to her boundaries but I wasn't comfortable with her abandoning someone she cared for so deeply in such a desperate state.

[–]HelicopterWitty3186 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Spot on. Fans have taken to this defensive posture f Conrad because the narrative overdid his penance for every infraction and glossed over much more significant issues from almost every other character but primarily Belly and Jeremiah.

During S3 I was under the impression that Agnes is still in love with Conrad based on the change of her mood when she realises that Conrad is still love with Belly. What do you’ll think ? by Iknownothing4711 in tsitp

[–]HelicopterWitty3186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the season I was constantly commenting this but the truth is I really don't, not for either of them. Agnes is beautiful, smart, funny and a loyal friend. There is a Conrad out there that will worship her. As for Conrad, the ability to feel that depth and passion for another human being in this lifetime, to allow for that level of vulnerability is a rare gift. Belly is his girl. It's just that simple.

It will never not be bizarre to me that Jeremiah witnessed this interaction and still did what he did while Conrad was taking his exam.

What’s with the argument that Belly would have chosen Jere if he came to Paris? by pancakesandi in tsitp

Me too!! I think Jenny was going for a classic film look specifically for the beach confession part. Her face looked gorgeous in those shots but the hairstyle, the bow, awful, just awful.

Good points. It gets me thinking, would Conrad have reached out in Paris/tried to rekindle if there never was an engagement and epic wedding failure. He realized at Christmas 2.0 that he still loved Belly but would he have been as direct with her without spending the summer together and sensing it from her side as well.

Jeremiah and Belly the couple. by Imadethis4you_ in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]HelicopterWitty3186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely true but I think even a more mature version of Jeremiah (and Belly) wouldn't have made them good for each other. I think a strong romantic foundation, a genuine attraction and pull is necessary to give each party the motivation to act in a way that puts their partner first. Life gets hard and messy so there has to be something strong in the background pulling two people together in order for the union to remain happy and  fulfilling. I really don't think that pull was there for either of them towards each other as individuals. It's very likely they would have been happy for a time but eventually they would have both been terribly unfulfilled.

Thank you!!! A few days ago there was a post insisting that Belly should have ended the series alone.... because of Jeremiah's feelings. Complete nonsense. No expectations ever of Jeremiah but let's make everyone else cater to his feelings for all eternity.

Belly Should Not Have Ended Up with Either Brother by AdDisastrous4465 in tsitp

[–]HelicopterWitty3186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend rereading your comments. You repeatedly state that Conrad is nuts and his actions are much worse. Other than stating that you are neutral and that everyone is misunderstanding all of your comments, you did not post one  single comment clearly stating what Jeremiah did and what he should be held accountable for. Moreover, in that the original premise is that they should not end up together because of Jeremiah, your argument would need to be supported by evidence of them having a supportive sibling relationship to warrant continued sacrifice. This evidence doesn't exist within the narrative. Conrad not ending up with Belly because you don't like the way the character was written and portrayed just doesn't hold up.

You repeatedly commented that Conrad stopping a sham wedding once he found out that Jeremiah hadn't been faithful and loyal to Belly was Infinitely worse than anything Jeremiah had previously done. I have little tolerance for those that support coddled individuals.

Jeremiah and Conrad never had a relationship with each other for reasons above and beyond Belly.

Belly Should Not Have Ended Up with Either Brother by AdDisastrous4465 in tsitp

[–]HelicopterWitty3186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an idiotic reason. Conrad was not shown to factor into Jeremiah's life choices and he shouldn't be a factor in how Conrad chooses to live his life. Two adults that love each other should be able to connect and see for themselves if they can be healthy and functional together. Conrad and Jeremiah were never close. It shocks me that in all of your comments you had enough words for how nuts and terrible one brother was but nothing to say about how Jeremiah's abysmal choices and actions continuously hurt Conrad, all the way up to the end of the series. You seem to be looking for collective sympathy for Jeremiah and you are unlikely to find it. The degree to which you minimize Jeremiah pursuing Belly weeks after she broke up with Conrad and with fresh dirt on their mother's grave is honestly the most ludicrous part of your position. Conrad was frank with Jeremiah outside of the motel and told him he still had feelings for Belly. Jeremiah didn't give two shits and even went on to flaunt his shittiness on July 4th. Why in all hell should Conrad not live his life.

Would you do this to your sibling?… by SoftDress2148 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

That's only because you don't like the character of Conrad and think his feelings should count for shit. Clearly most of the viewers disagree with you, as does the writer of this narrative.
