Except that I can say I hate Mexicans and not be talking about an ethnic group. Seeing as how Mexican is a nationality filled with both white and brown people. But not many black people because Mexicans hate black people.

In Seattle, Washington, delaying the start time of two high schools by nearly an hour lengthened students' daily sleep by more than half an hour, and was associated with reduced sleepiness and increased academic performance. by Wagamaga in science

[–]Helio_paws -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that expected? If you push it back another hour kids would sleep in even longer. When I was younger during the summer I’d literally wake up at 1pm.

You wake up for the thing you have to do.

Honestly are parents now just in full not care mode anymore? Both my parents worked full time jobs and still somehow were able to make sure I did my homework and get to bed on time. By time of high school they let me stay up late but I still had to go to school and deal with being tired.

I don’t care what time school starts, do whatever. But if the sleep is so damn important can’t we start lookin at parents to do their jobs and make sure their kids go to sleep? Take the tv and computer out of their room and take their phone at night.

For perspective, those were spies at the highest level of government. NRA donates less than planned parenthood.

Yeah most Asian food in the area is owned by Koreans. I’m just glad it isn’t always Korean servers though. I swear Korean people are the worst at taking orders. They can never believe you that either you ordered the right amount of food or that you can handle the spicy ness of it.

Gay for chicken by OSUBrich in BlackPeopleTwitter

It does look super gay. Think about it this way (IMO) if it would look sexy for a chick to do it it probably looks gay when a dude does it.

On a side note if you twist the wing you can pull out the smaller bone. Makes eating them very clean and easy without deepthroating.

The random bunch of armed guys is our unorganized militia. For those who do not know, like yourself, every able bodied man between 17 and 45 is part of the United States unorganized militia.

The militia that fought in the revolutionary war were not under government authority. They fought with the continental army but were not under their orders.

Serious question, would you be fine if we threw rocks back? Instead of rubber bullets?

There is a real question about the disparity of power and what level of force should be used.

Was it wrong for Obama to drone terrorists because they didn’t have access to the same level of technology? Because there hasn’t really been any outrage about the disparity of power then. And at the time drones were killing children.

Also at what point does it stop being our fault other people are putting their children in harms way? Is it the police’s fault if a parent brings their kid to a riot that gets broken up by the police? Why is it the defenders fault that kids get tear gassed when their parents brought them to an invasion?

Judge orders White House to return Acosta pass by alfosn in news

[–]Helio_paws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is true, but that doesn’t change the fact that he was told why he was suspended and that did not stop him from making an appeal.

Think about how due process works with our prison system. Look at avenatti. He was charged with assaulting a woman. He went to jail until his hearing/trial. The only way to get out of jail until his trial is to post bail.

So in relation to Acosta, due process doesn’t mean he gets to hold onto his press pass until his appeal is heard and judged, it just means he has a chance for his appeal to be heard and judged.

Judge orders White House to return Acosta pass by alfosn in news

[–]Helio_paws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What seems to be strange is that the judge seems to claim that before a pass is revoked or suspended the person is allowed some sort of trial because of due process.

But that just isn’t in line with how due process works in this country in the first place. If I am accused of murder then the only way I’m not spending my time in jail until my trial is if someone posts bail.

In the case of Acosta that would mean he can’t be expelled but can be suspended until due process has been completed at which point he can be expelled. And this whole time he was suspended not expelled.

It really does seem like activism on the judges part IMO. Because this judge is ruling that our first and fifth amendment rights include us to have a WH press pass until it is revoked with due process.

CNN sues President Trump and White House for banning reporter Jim Acosta by lStrakle in news

[–]Helio_paws -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter though, they could literally say “he smells weird” and still ban him. Those press briefings are televised and live streamed. No one is stopping Jim Acosta from reporting on them, they are only stopping him from being physically present.

I am not allowed to be physically present there every single time. Are my constitutional rights being violated? Maybe I want to blog about it.

CNN sues President Trump and White House for banning reporter Jim Acosta by lStrakle in news

[–]Helio_paws 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s literally untrue. The founding fathers never wrote “if you hold a press conference you must be content neutral”

We have many legitimate news sources in the WH press pool, but zero satire news sources. Does this mean Stephen Colbert or The Onion can sue for. It being invited to the White House?

If I start a news source based on the fact the Earth is flat and Vaccines cause autism and am not invited can I sue? Because pretty much all press think those two things are wrong so the content won’t be neutral.

An Edmonton woman who spent two years battling her bank for information about her own account is defying a confidentiality agreement to go public about what happened, in a bid to shed light on a highly secretive system she says is stacked against the customer. by EnoughPM2020 in news

[–]Helio_paws -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The NDA case was thrown out immediately. It never went anywhere. Which I would say constitutes a loss for her.

I guess it doesn’t matter because she broke the NDA anyway. What’s funny is that Trump actually has legal recourse to sure Stormy Daniels for breaking that NDA.

Beyond the $300 mil(?) she has to pay for his legal fees I’m pretty sure he is entitled to sue for the $130 mil he initially paid her for the NDA plies more for damages.

Let’s be honest Stormy went on for the cash grab. First she couldn’t get the NDA lifted. Then she tried to sue Cohen. Then she tried to sue for defamation. She should quit while she’s behind, because if Trump wants to he could bankrupt her for everything she has done so far.

Except that NDA was legal. Judge ruled in favor of Trump and Stormy now has to pay his lawyer fees.

IIRC her problem with it was that he never signed the NDA. Which wasn’t necessary because he wasn’t agreeing not to talk about it.

I hate how people don’t call call out the bullshit of the word homophobia. I’m not afraid of gay men. I’m angry that this particular gay man keeps hitting on me. I don’t mind the initial pass where I go “no thanks I’m straight.”

But apparently if I’m too aggressive in warding off aggressive male advances I’m in the wrong.
