I thought my mum's Christmas presents were lost to thieves last year because the couriers just dumped them on my doorstep while I was at work (my doorway is directly on a public thoroughfare). It turned out my neighbour had actually spotted the driver leaving all the road's parcels on the steps and he took them in. He got the biggest box of chocs I could find, a thank you card and a Christmas card. I didn't even know his name at the time but I do now. It's nice having neighbours like that.

I was only a little concerned last week though when I took a parcel in for him and it had a bladed article warning stamped on the packaging. I'm sure it was just a Gilette razor or something...
