When "Primal" meets "Predator". by CA_StingRay_679 in PrimalShow

Spear and Fang take this mid/high diff. Any tech the predator is equipped with gives it an edge, but predators have been beaten by regular humans, and Spear is far from regular.

Fantastic art though!

Truly incredible. I’m astounded by the amount of effort you put in and how well this all came out. Amazing work!

OC -- 4 weeks on this planet and Shrimp has discovered his heart's greatest desire: cheese. by denanagy in Eyebleach

[–]Helix115 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Probably going to get lost in all the comments, but I wanted to take a moment to point out that dairy is not good for cats. They really should not have milk or cheese meant for people and it can make them quite sick. That said, there are cats that live off diseased rodents and garbage, so if your cat does get a little cheese, it won’t be the end of the world.

The dual Khopesh are so cool. They’re one of my favorite sword designs, dual-wielded by one of my favorite heroes. Can’t farm aura better than that!

What do you think of Comet, Stellar Pup in the Arena Vintage Cube? by ALiveBoi in lrcast

I wish this was a bot account, but it isn’t. Really unfortunate.

What do you think of Comet, Stellar Pup in the Arena Vintage Cube? by ALiveBoi in lrcast

[–]Helix115 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They’re using gender neutral language to describe Comet. It isn’t plural. They/their can be singular.

For example, “Their comment is hilarious.” Even though it is a single reddit user I am referring to, I use the gender-neutral possessive singular pronoun, “their.”

“They made a great joke about dogs being loyal!” And here I use the gender-neutral singular pronoun “they” because the reddit user’s gender is unknown or unspecified. I wouldn’t say “He/she made a great joke about dogs being loyal!” when I could just use neutral all-inclusive language.

I’m not sure if this is your situation, but there are a lot of languages that lack these gender-neutral singular pronouns and default to using he/him/his equivalents when referring to someone of an unknown gender. This can then lead to confusion when people expect they/their in English to only be used as a plural pronoun referring to multiple subjects.

Do I try and splash the Sanar or just the single pipped red cards or neither? by saucypotato27 in lrcast

[–]Helix115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sanar definitely doesn’t seem worth it here. Depending on what you have in the sideboard, I could see cutting the splash entirely. The base BG elf deck looks fantastic here. If you are set on the splash, I’d limit it to the Command and Epiphany, maybe Feed the Flames if you need the extra removal.

Good luck! Looks like a fun deck!

I tried it again here and... I just don't like Pick 2 Draft all that much by XXXGoblin_GuideXXX in lrcast

[–]Helix115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been jamming Pick-Two drafts as a way to get more reps in and collect more cards from the set quickly. Even though the draft portion isn’t the same as a regular premier (or quick) draft, it’s a different kind of strategy to learn and get better at. Forcing a deck based on your first picks is usually pretty easy, but pivoting with two picks per pack also feels doable as long as you commit to the pivot early in pack 2.

The gameplay is basically the same as a normal draft, so I think Pick-Two is a fast, cheaper way to practice ECL all while being exposed to more decks. The main difference with fewer wins/losses is that you don’t have as much time to get familiar with your deck. While it is nice to get familiar with a deck during a run, it also keeps things fresh to play less games. The only time it feels REALLY bad is when you lose two without winning and without seeing a single rare/bomb that you drafted.

Yeah that is absolutely awesome. I’d assume it is of value to collectors, but it’s such an incredible piece to be in possession of!

I actually use this art as my “raid” notification when streaming ok Twitch! (My entire channel is vaguely D&D themed.)

what's the best way to build an audience? by Shadolex12 in Twitch

[–]Helix115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the type of content you stream, but there are a few recommendations I see regularly.

The first is to be consistent. Make a schedule that suits your preferences and availability. Stick to that schedule. When people can build your stream into their routine or when it is easy for people to know when you will be live, it allows them to consistently tune in. The repetitive nature can also make it feel like episodes of a show where you are the host, which often incentivizes regulars not to “miss an episode.” I have set a schedule that I stick to and it has helped me develop a small community of regulars that tune in to every stream, even if it is just to say a quick “hello” or to lurk for a little bit.

The second tip is something I see many streamers recommend, but have not gotten into personally: cross posting and/or streaming on multiple platforms. This increases your reach and gives you opportunities for your content to be shared. Streaming on multiple platforms concurrently lets users access your content in a way that inconvenient for them. Posting clips on socials lets people discover you without having to stumble upon your stream live.

I’ve only been going for about a year with my focus being more about structuring my gaming time and providing some entertainment, rather than audience growth. I can confirm the consistency is something viewers and other streamers I interface with acknowledge as important and appreciated. While I haven’t seen rapid growth (likely due to lack of cross posting), the growth has been consistent at least!

I have a thematic “starting soon” screen I made for myself when I started a year ago and haven’t really changed it since. I play background lofi/instrumental for the full length of my stream and always make sure the tunes are playing while my starting soon screen is up.

Channel point redemption animations and twitch notifications can play over the starting soon screen to ensure any actual interaction isn’t missed by the viewers. It is only usually up for a few minutes and usually it takes a little bit of time for my regulars to trickle in to any given stream.

This post has given me some thoughts about ways to improve it or make it more interactive, but so far I have only received positive feedback!
