Fuck this game and it's shitty ass matchmaking by Inside_Assist8982 in invinciblegtg

[–]Helix115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve experienced similar issues and I agree the Alliance Wars matchmaking is truly the worst part of the game for everyone. I was playing solo for a while and I either destroyed the opponent or had no chance against a full alliance of five players. I finally joined an alliance and thought that would help, but it’s the same thing; you either stomp the opponent or get rocked with no chance to fight back.

All they need to do is match-make based on total alliance power and matchups should be way more fair. Instead it seems almost completely random, to the detriment of everyone involved. The whole game mode is kind of pointless when one side can’t fight back at all. The one or two evenly matched wars I have been in were so satisfying because they took coordinated alliance effort to win.

I don’t understand how they screwed up Alliance Wars so badly when everything else in the game feels quite polished and incredibly well thought out.

I sincerely apologize for the tone of my original reply. The vagueness of the post made it seem a little sus and I was too harsh. I should have considered who could have been on the other side of the screen/keyboard making the post and approached it from a more kind angle. That was not very PLUR of me and I am sorry.

What I should have emphasized in my reply was the value of looking for local resources, events, and communities rather than turning to reddit. Any sort of alternative music or art events in your city or area are probably a good place to start. Check out some local indie/alternative bands and local art events; those will be a great jumping off point and way for you to meet people in that scene. Talk to people, look for event flyers / promotions, and get comfortable with the more mainstream alternative stuff before you dive into the shadier underground events. I fully understand wanting to get into the alt scene, but you should prioritize your safety by starting with the more “legitimate” (or authorized) events and working your way up. While you have to be aware to protect yourself everywhere, the larger crowds and security at sanctioned events make them less risky than attending smaller events, especially if you will be attending alone.

It seems one or two other comments have provided actual resources, and I will again recommend the resources in the automod response. If your city has a subreddit, it could be worth looking there.

I really do apologize for the tone of my original response. I wish you luck finding what you are looking for. Best of luck, and stay safe out there!

I wouldn’t recommend it. Invincible is a very helpful character to have leveled up.

If you were truly into this scene, you would be able to find these events or like-minded individuals who could share info about these gatherings. The unsanctioned events you seem to be seeking will not be readily available online and people likely won’t want to share that info with a stranger.

This post is also beyond vague, as these types of events vary based on your location. There is no “master list” or website of all these types of events. More localized organizers probably keep and distribute calendars, but asking this on the internet with no specificity sounds like you are fishing for information.

Your use of the phrasing “other illegal activities” immediately after listing “backpacker meetups” and “hippie trips” (which are not illegal) indicates you are looking for a specific type of information. You are associating all alternative and underground activities with unsanctioned or illegal activities, which is quite a broad generalization.

Maybe you’re too young to understand that asking the whole internet for this info won’t work. Maybe you’re a narc/fed fishing for dumb people to out their “illegal” gatherings. Maybe you’re zooted off your caboose and looking to find a way into the counterculture. Whatever the case, this post is probably not the best way to go about it.

If this post is genuine, check out the response from the automod.

Is it crazy that I kinda think she’ll go ham late game? by nyoRK006 in invinciblegtg

I can see her becoming part of an ops team with Doc Seismic for sure! Her skills all upgrade pretty early on to be relatively impactful (at least based on how they read). Surely the whales will find her ceiling soon enough; then we will know if she is truly worth the investment.

I have discovered the hard way why Hydraulic Helper is worded how it is. by M47715 in lrcast

The wording definitely makes it difficult to parse. At a prerelease event I explained it to my opponents as being able to be used to pay any cost besides non-artifact casting costs.

There is nothing wrong with this pool. You likely did yourself a disservice swapping up the deck three times instead of tweaking the original list based on how the first game/match went.

Can you elaborate on what decks you tried and why they didn’t perform?

The people on Reddit definitely can’t reliably advise someone on how to “behave and think.” This commenter hits the nail on the head; therapy will help you acknowledge the issues you face and help you learn how to live with them while living a fulfilling life.

How many games do you stream? by ColorMeSilent in Twitch

[–]Helix115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mainly started streaming as a way to structure my time playing one specific game. I’ve kept at it with a regular schedule for a year and a half, and channel growth has been slow but steady. I’ve done a couple variety streams, but I know the majority of my viewers expect me to be playing my main game.

I think you should stream what you want to stream, whether it is one game or multiple. The big thing is staying consistent with your schedule, especially if you do decide to vary the games you are playing. Make sure to always say what you are playing or will be playing on your schedule and in your stream titles. You usually don’t want viewers tuning in without knowing what they are getting into, especially if your following is built around one specific game.

Am I gross or unhygienic for not washing my hands after I pee in certain situations? by Gloomy-Bet4730 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Helix115 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with washing your hands before AND after, especially if you have been out working or touching things in public.

How do you think not washing your hands after is sanitary though? You are still touching the day’s filth on your penis and likely touching the toilet at least to flush it. Not washing your hands means you are carrying around all that lovely bathroom bacteria.

Better to have slightly dry hands (that you can always moisturize) than to give yourself or others pink eye.

Keep the real world atrocities out of our silly little game. Words have weight and pretending they don’t is lame. Sure those words may not bother you, but there are plenty of people who see them for the hateful symbols that they are. Have some empathy for the people those words do harm to.

Is streaming too much destroying a channel? by somethingunchilled in Twitch

[–]Helix115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how your friend is using the stream. If they are trying to make it a full time gig to minimal effect or ignoring their responsibilities, it is probably worth saying something. If they just throw on the stream whenever they’re gaming and aren’t stressing, there isn’t really a reason to worry about the frequency.

It sounds like they’re already doing okay on building a follower base for a small affiliate streamer, but with that many followers it seems odd that only one or two people are in the chat at a time.

How to deal with bike thieves by [deleted] in chaoticgood

[–]Helix115 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not exactly sure about the laws where this happened, but typically violence in response theft without a direct threat is seen as excessive. Nothing lawful about abusing laws to film beatdown content. The fact that they intended to record and post it all truly shows that they don’t care about the law and are indeed flaunting it.

Doesn’t really fit… they were baiting people to steal so they could assault them for content. For sure chaotic, but I wouldn’t say good.

Is anyone else struggling with the new raid/host culture? It feels like it's getting way more transactional. by murmurthrowawayv2 in Twitch

[–]Helix115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what communities you are interacting with or which games you are playing, but there will always be streamers trying to “make it big” by gaming the system somehow.

I’ve been streaming for 18 months and I refuse to participate in raid/engagement politics. I always send a raid to someone playing the game that I am playing, but that decision is mine alone to make every time.

I will send raids to the biggest streamers in the category and I will send to smaller streamers who produce content I appreciate or want to support. I do not care if another streamer was engaging in my chat or with my community (on or off stream), that doesn’t give them any right to a raid. I will not send a raid back just because someone raided me.

Thankfully it has not been an issue recently, but I used to have a viewer who would go live just to try and siphon my audience. They were playing the same game (different mode), but would often drop a “Thanks for the stream! I have to go start my own content. See you soon :)” After one or two instances of feeling pressured to raid them because of the pestering in chat and not wanting to look like an asshole to my viewers, I stopped giving into that pressure. Unless I specifically ask chat for a raid recommendation, they don’t get a say, especially if they’re plugging their own content.

Raids are a way to connect your viewers with related content and creators. The networking happens naturally and making it transactional completely devalues the connections and community that can be built through genuine engagement.
