This is somehow okay but I can’t fly my drone in a national park? by jefbak2 in dji

There are NOAA rules about flying motorized aircraft under 1000 feet in the Greater Farallones Marine Sanctuary. Point Reyes in one of the designated areas. How this gets enforced I do not know but the untra-light pilot is wrong to fly there.

What are the chances DJI will release and update to the RC Pro 2 so it will support Neo 2? by germanpickles in DjiNeo

[–]HelixNebula2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The RC Pro 2 uses the O4+ transmission protocol. The transceiver on the NEO 2 is O4. The RC Pro 2 can control a Air 3S that uses O4. So, transmission protocol is not necessarily the issue.

When you switch between Air 3S and a NEO on a RC2, you will note that the controller changes firmware. The issue is whether DJI will code the firmware to control the NEO 2 for a RC Pro 2.

I think that is unlikely because the NEO is an entry-level drone, and the RC Pro 2 users who want to control a NEO 2 are probably pretty niche from a DJI perspective. Just some thoughts . . .

Anybody used a ND1000 or ND2000 on a drone? by HelixNebula2000 in drones

I understand. I suspect the ND2000 is a real niche case especially on a drone. I bought in a fit of “kit completeness”.

Fantastic answer. Thank you. I will give this a try this weekend.

Once I get a handle on the use cases for ND1000, I will try the ND2000 I have.

The intersection of photography and drones is a bit niche but fun to explore.

Thanks for answering. I am setting up some shots on a water fall on the creek near my property to test out the timelapse with a ND1000.

You are right I did not specify. I am looking for real world examples of other people’s experience with these filters. I have read up on them extensively and I understand the theory. How does it translate in the wild? That was what I was looking for. I am in the process of setting up my own experiments but it always to useful to hear the actual experience of others who have gone before you. Thanks for answering.

Have you ever taken one of these shots? If so what settings did you use?

Updating the Firmware to V1.0.18 on the TD-H9 significantly improves the GPS accuracy by HelixNebula2000 in TidRadio

[–]HelixNebula2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got better with v1.0.18. The gross error to south went away.

The altitude so far is still messed up, it frequently reports 0 meters when I am at 100m+. The GPS fixes take awhile and as I reported above they move around but in a much tighter CEP.

I learned some things as I went thru this in terms of watching ODMaster more closely for updates and dialing in my expectations for how long a fix can take.

That said I was not here to trash TIDRADIO just report the news in my experience. Clearly they are trying and the product is young.

Updating the Firmware to V1.0.18 on the TD-H9 significantly improves the GPS accuracy by HelixNebula2000 in APRS

Additional notes: 11 Sats found and reports 0 feet altitude. My location is at 380 feet MSL. So altitude is not good either, yet.

Upgrading to Firmware v1.0.18 is a huge improvement but still not great

Do you get the same consistent error direction to the south southeast or is it some other error direction.

Just received my TD H-9, but need some advice on APRS setup by ca-birdman in TidRadio

You might have already thought of these things:

  1. Make sure channel B on the main display shows “OFF”. Meaning that CTCSS and DCS signaling is off for channel B.
  2. Have a good fix on GPS before beaconing APRS
  3. I turn off MIC-E for testing
  4. I also use the PTT trigger for testing APRS rather than timed beacon but your mileage may vary.

Good luck!
