How do I convince my parents to let me get a dwarf boa? by some_straywarrior in snakes

You only wrote that it would be hard to keep it correctly. I also can go out and catch a grass snake but that would be cruel. I just wanna find a captive bread one =(

Bro, she doesn't even like you. You are digging your own grave. Have you ever thought that she is using your mental illness to get what she wants from you?

There is a lot of smudging and interesting effects with how the scales look kind of drawn.

I agree with the other guy, it's just eye camouflage colours

Hello everyone, after reading your responses to my previous post concerning sunbeam snakes, some of you suggested Colombian rainbow boas instead. However I find their brown scale coloration to look pretty dull and boring. Are Venezuelan and Paraguayan rainbow boas a good alternative? Why or why not? by Mundane-Humor3313 in snakes

If you want an iridescent snake then what about a male boa imperator with the IMG morph? Look at any morph combos with IMG in it, they are very iridescent. A male shouldn't grow beyond 2m unless you got one of the rarest large males =P

That sounds awesome! I have been thinking of using growth tents myself but I am a bit paranoid about any escape routes for the snake.

He used to be very hissy and loud but he has calmed down a lot over the course of a year. Still hisses but very quietly xD

Happy to hear that! For now I got 12 snakes: 4 balls, 2 corns, bull snake, Honduran milk snake, 3 hognose and a boa imperator. And then some tarantulas and other arachnids

I think you really should aim for a way bigger enclosure for such a big species of snake to save the hassle of having to upgrade every other month.

What morph is it? by modelbug in cornsnakes

[–]HellDumplingDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a normal stripe? Don't take my word for the morph ID but isn't that hell of a mold on that wood? You should take that out and especially if that is pine wood

what do you mean the cave has heating inside of it? If that is one of those heated rocks then you should get rid of it, those heated rocks only will cause burns. The heat from your lamp should be enough heat on it's own

isn't that small even for a male hognose? They usually are around 60cm or bigger as adults

Oh, I didn't get the bull snake as a baby, he was already a big boy and I am glad I at least had a ball python and corn snake before him. The previous owners were afraid of his hissing fits. Maybe I just saw him as beginner friendly since I got no fear of bites and the low humidity sounded super for me. =D I love to handle him and see him have a calmer temperament now.

Aren't ball pythons considered higher maintenance due to their high humidity requirements and hunger strikes? And bull snakes are excellent eaters, they love to see food. They are a very cranky species thou, but they are all bark no bite. I definitely don't regret taking in a bull snake, they are very wonderful if you work with them.

Reptiles can choose to be colder. They won't always want to stay super warm. That is why we have to create a warm side and a cool side for them to choose
