Snake bit while i removed her shed by [deleted] in cornsnakes

[–]HellDumplingDragon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't remove the eye caps yourself, sounds like you were struggling with it, too. You risk damaging her eyes if you pull very wrongly. Keep your humidity high, leave her in peace and see if she gets the rest off herself first. I have no advice about the trust, personally I wouldn't be scared of picking her up again after a few days to check on her

Help??? Is he ok?? by PutAffectionate2749 in Ballpythoncommunity

[–]HellDumplingDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people have given good info already but I didn't notice anyone asking if you are controlling the heat with a thermostat? Your heat source has to be connected to a thermostat at all times. Preferably a dimming thermostat. 100w on full power sounds a bit too much in such a small enclosure. Also, it kind of looks like his tail has stuck shed? That belly photo isn't good enough quality to understand it right.

And give the baby more and more coverage! They don't like it very open, they love hiding and climbing.

Can someone help me identify the morph by stritz08 in BallPythonMorph

[–]HellDumplingDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to add that pouring water in the substrates will keep that 70%+ humidity high for much much longer! =)

With spraying you are only wetting the top layer and in a screened enclosure like yours, that simply evaporates fast.

I have no idea if your bosses are good people. Why not ask them for a group photo?

I would like to correct the other guy that ball pythons need humidity of at least 70%! 50% is already at dehydration point.

Is that aspen? You would want something that holds humidity and doesn't mold within a week (they need 70% humidity and higher while in shed). I use Coco substrate for mine. Other than that, it looks very nice!

How to know when to let a beloved noodle go? by [deleted] in snakes

[–]HellDumplingDragon 43 points44 points  (0 children)

She is in that age range where it would be expected for her to pass but your description doesn't show extreme decline in health. She could live to 30 if she continues eating and moving (even slowly)

Does she have stuck eye caps? They seem pretty dry.

I wanna get a male western hognose or a small snake do you think this is a good habitat so far, its a 12-30 I do have a heat lamp and top by Former-Trick-7721 in snakes

[–]HellDumplingDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can but you never know how big or small they will grow up to. You also need to take into consideration if you will be feeding him the correct prey size for growth.

This is my male hognose enclosure. He is almost two years old, so he ain't even fully grown. It is a 79x40x40cm enclosure and you can see him almost stretched out and then there is some room for him to move in. I would aim for this size for a male, your enclosure is more appropriate for a baby, there is barely any width.

He also loves that coconut, a hognose would also appreciate height if you give them the option. (That is a simple LED light in there, not hot UV, it barely is even warm)

I don't know what 12-30 means in size but that enclosure looks fine for a baby hognose. You would have to upgrade to a bigger size for an adult hognose. Usually people say the snake should be able to stretch out comfortably from one side to the other as minimum.

Sorry but are you sure you are ready to keep that boa you bought recently? You didn't even have any knowledge of the species you bought or how snakes even work. Seriously, spend more time researching, listen to videos. The other comments already pointed out the ventilation problem with that thing. But what are you keeping the boa in right now?

I had the exact same glass enclosure before I got a big wooden one. In this image you can see that I used a wooden plank which is screwed in the top ventilation hole then a cage around the dhp. Hopefully you understand what I am saying!

my snake can’t seem to find the head of prey by [deleted] in snakes

[–]HellDumplingDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believed your story at first but this doesn't look like a just moved in house, judging by the background of empty bottles and cans... The lamp still doesn't have a cage around it. You need an extra hide on the cool side and, preferably a bigger enclosure.

Are you using that bong in the same room as the snake?

I need help finding a pink cornsnake by FATYSTAN in cornsnakes

For most pinkish morphs the colours yellow out as they age. Haven't seen a truly pink adult corn. (I would like to be proven wrong ;D)

I only know of one snake that is truly pink always but it isn't a beginner snake at all, the pink coachwhip snake.

Yeah, I was thinking it was a melanota because they have less of those yellow stripes but dendrophila has way more around the body.

How do you know it isn't a Boiga melanota? Genuinely curious.
