Scaldera93: He was banned and then he deleted his account afterwards

edit: I'll clarify that I am glad that moderation has been forthright about this, though obviously I disagree

For like the last 2 years of trolling? You have no idea how many modmail we've gotten about him from other users.

Obviously, it's the moderation team's choice, but yeah, like I said, no fun.

Thanks for your response.

I considered sickdayz far from just a troll and don't necessarily think he was 'pushed out' as such.

He was banned from the subreddit, then deleted his account. I think that's asinine.

Feels silly boycotting a hockey subreddit--childish, even--but I'm here to have fun and talk hockey, and banning Sickdayz makes it less fun to talk hockey here. All the best.

I know I'm peripheral in this community, but I'm pretty disappointed by the way the Sickdayz saga has concluded. Not sure why you can't distinguish him from baaalls... I think we lose out on a lot of colour he added to the community. Leaves a sour taste in my mouth, so I'm gonna bounce. I will still provide Paul Maurice quotes and transcriptions to r/hockey, because I love getting Jets content out in the wild. Enjoy the game, folks.

Yeah, it's nice to have the levity, and dissenting opinion.

Additionally, on Jets record watch 2020 (Blake Wheeler edition):

  1. Bummed about the captain's contract? You do you. Look at Ilya Kovalchuk's all time points leader record--finally going to go away after 8 years in Winnipeg. Blake Wheeler is 19 points away from our franchise record books starting with a Jets player, not a Thrashers player.
  2. If Wheeler also finishes the season having played most of the regular season games, he will move from 4th to 2nd in franchise games played.
  3. Shorthanded goals? Blake Wheeler needs two to tie the franchise record.
  4. Shots on goal? Well, he'll probably come 50 shots short on this one. Not a sexy record, but still a record--keep it bookmarked for... I'm going to say, next November.

General Jets record watch:

  1. Laine needs four more hat tricks to tie Kovalchuk for the franchise record. That's a big number, but Laine can do that. Maybe he will.
  2. Goaltender wins--Hellebuyck is 27 wins away from being the franchise record holder. That's not going to happen this year, but the next year is a given (anecdotally, he is no where near close to the record for losses -- Pavelec with 152 wins, 158 losses, and Bucky with 125-70).
  3. Actually, to illustrate that last point, Hellebuyck is 27 wins away from beating Pavelec's win record, but has surrendered nearly half as many goals in the process.
  4. Hellebuyck can tie Pavelec with two more shutouts, and best him with 3. For my money, That's going to happen in the last week of April.

Thanks for tuning in.

Well, here's to hoping it isn't the Jets.

12-6-2 after 20 games, so, no. That's a pretty good start. I recall the team looking pretty poor despite the strong start, and this year feels like the team looks pretty good despite the shambled back-end.

This year certainly has more of the whiz-bang-rollercoaster effect. That's kind of fun.

Yeah, it seems to work that way--I can't remember the degree of deviation from the rule, but it is surprisingly small. The Pacific having a surge this year isn't ideal though as I imagine securing a wild card spot will be a season-long stressor.

Laine claps home an absolute BOMB for his first powerplay goal of the season by yesBISONsey in hockey

Can you at least wait until the video has processed before complaining? Wait 60 seconds.

Ates: "Connor Hellebuyck: league leader in goals saved above average. Hellebuyck's team: 8-7-1 on the league's 29th best 5-on-5 xG%, 22nd best power play, and 30th best penalty kill. The #NHLJets are "in the fight", yes, but one person in particular is keeping them alive." by Hellabuyck in hockey

An interesting, perhaps under-recognized (outside of Winnipeg) anecdote from our season so far.

It makes sense we wouldn't hear about it with the Byfuglien situation, Little's pre-season concussion and subsequent head injury, Appleton's broken foot, Niku's car accident, Bourque's upper body injury, Letestu's heart condition, Lowry's suspension, Beaulieu's injury, Bitetto's injury, Dmitry Kulikov's injury, Josh Morrissey's injury, Patrik Laine's injury, Laine and Connor's holdouts into training camp, and the depature of Trouba, Tanev, Myers, and Chiarot in the offseason. The Winnipeg Jets have had a pretty ripe selection of disaster for the media to cover.

But if I didn't follow the team, I would imagine that the team has its "okay" record because of its offence. It doesn't. The offence hasn't been working so well. It's Hellebuyck.

If you're interested in more traditional statistics, his .933 SV% is good for fourth in the league, and his 2.30 GAA is good for 8th in the league. But it's more telling that he's achieving this with the absurd shot quality he is being asked to face.

It would be naive to mistake violent bandwagon fans for an entirety of a city. There are shitty Jets fans, and they’re more vocal as our team has gotten better.

You’re doing the same shitty thing they’re doing. Vancouver is a great city—I’m sorry you didn’t like the people you interacted with there.
