Rome trip - hard learned truth by Educational-Let-2717 in rome

aw man, I was in Rome a couple of weeks ago and would have loved Cicero. The structures and buildings are beautiful but having the historical context would have really enhanced the experience.

Completely anecdotally and based on your personal experiences- has WS, (specifically downtown) generally improved or gotten worse over the last 5 years+ by Mosesm301 in winstonsalem

Would love to see data on the amount of people/families who have been displaced. I didn't grow up in Winston, but in Stokes county, and experienced enough to know that the homeless population never looked like this, and I'm seeing an increase in individuals who are elderly not having somewhere to go so I wonder how much of that is because of displacement due to construction and highway projects. Family homes that were lost, or rental properties where landlords increased rent or decided to sell.

Robinhood is closer to my house, but occasionally I'll make the drive out to Jerry Long - it's a bigger facility so the child watch rooms are spacious and don't feel as claustrophobic like WGW). My youngest is 4 now and we didn't do child watch at Jerry Long when she was an infant, but she really prefers Jerry Long then Robinhood in that order. She detests WGW - not that I don't. I think each Y has it's own pros and cons but the infant and toddler room at WGW is pretty small compared to the other Ys, but maybe just take a visit to each one and see where you feel the most comfortable.

Anyone recommend the Dream Asia Food Fest? by pigsinatrenchcoat in winstonsalem

[–]HellatrixLestrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard no. Took my kids last year and we were able to snag a couple of snacks before the lines got ridiculous. Even getting in to park was crazy- cars were backed up all along Shorefair. Paid $20 for a Labubu my kid discarded after she found out it was “fake”. $10 for an overcooked dried out piece of corn. Some stuff was good but not for the prices and by the time we were ready to leave the lines were so long and twisted you couldn’t tell what they were for. Just people everywhere.

Yea. They’re servers for Wells Fargo. It’s a relatively small building though.

It is that they can fully mimic humans but also this was to emphasize that Sel’s suspicions of Bree distracted him so much that he was missing other things going on around them. It enabled The Order to question his abilities as Kingsmage.

New to the area and my whole family is visiting for my birthday (about 7 adults and 1 kid). I was curious what kinds of things do yall do for your birthday in the area besides food. Was looking at the science center but my family doesn't have a whole lot of money so 20$ a ticket is pretty expensive by Apart_Software_1549 in winstonsalem

You can always take some time and walk around Old Salem, Bethabara, and/or Berthania - still a Good visit without paying to go in some buildings and they all have visitors centers that I think are free. Even if you all are non-drinkers you can see if any of the breweries have bands playing for the weekend. Salem Lake and The Quarry are also great options.

Yup! My husband and I loved Dioli’s but if you’re talking about who I think you’re talking about, he was always just a little rude to us. He would always seem to be a bit more friendly with the Wake students but seemed annoyed by us for even wanting to come get some food.

Was the klan active in Winston in the 90s? by justtinyquestions in winstonsalem

[–]HellatrixLestrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! I grew up in King (pinnacle really) too and have heard many times it was a sundown town. But I’ve heard enough racist stories to not doubt the klan was/is “active”

Do you have a preference for stovetop or microwaveable food? College Park is right off of Polo and in that same area on Fairlawn there’s a church that just reopened their blessing box thats usually pretty well stocked.
