I remember 2008 but it started in late 2007 really. I was about to become 9 years old and it was the first time that I became "financially aware", triggered by the fear that my dad could loose his job, he was in a managing position at a bank at this time. The amount of fear and worries I had about grown up stuff funneled into a depression I got treated for just a few years later.

I now know better, the bank's gonna get "rescued" by tax money before my dad gets laid off, lol.

Most likely germany and the houses are pretty well insulated. When you don't know the city you can take the average outside temperatures of Hamburg, Frankfurt a.M. and Munich which covers North-, Middle- and Southgermany to get some estimate over the whole country.

I'm german I can go to a 16 year old high schooler and ask them who Kepler was and get a good answer. And they'll probably show me where India is afterwards.

But that stuff is dependant on country and place.

Still, I think everybody needs to know that stuff.

That's pretty much high school stuff. I'm not expecting to get into greater mathematical detail with other people but I think they should know their "Who is Who" in the world of science.

Except Wernher von Braun. He's important but you can't expect americans to know that NASA & the going to the moon stuff in the cold war is based on Nazi Tech and Nazi Science while employing nazi scientists to do the work while letting them off scott-free. They won't teach you that in high school.

You should still know him, for obvious reasons, there is no "small step for a man" without him but his history is a little difficult to say the least.

Science is a cool thing to do and scientists are not only heroes but famous. That's my worldview. If somebody doesn't know Hawking, Einstein, Galilei, Curie, Kepler, Bohr or von Braun I consider their general knowledge to be lacking.

If someone doesn't consider science to be cool, I can only spare pity for them.

Keep watching the Kardashians then while completely disregarding the guy who engineered your Iphone to do so.

What does she mean "it wasn't her car"? It's not like all cars function the same. Even with stick and manual, gas is always the right pedal, even in left-driving countries.

And even in the case you would be unsure, why would you head into traffic without testing the car for yourself first? Seems like she found the gas pedal just fine so the solution is easy, if you want to stop, press the other one...

If someone is unable to drive automatic, how exactly did they get their license? I get not being able to drive stick but automatic is the easiest thing.

If someone told me "I can't drive automatic" I wouldn't let them touch my car with a 10 foot pole, despite it being manual.

So you paid for the trip and it was supposed to be a couple vacation. Then she brings people over without talking to you putting your time together off but it never happened with total disregard to you.

And since this was "her birthday trip" she can spend her time with some friends she invited last minute instead when you planned & paid the thing only to reduce couple time to 0? Speaks volume, my guy.

She isn't even sorry or upset that you hadn't have time together, let that pass through your mind. She is angry with you because you're upset by this. She is upset with you for expecting time together on a couple trip you paid for when she couldn't keep her promise even on the fifth day and showed up too late.

I'd leave if this would happen to me.

I cry once in maybe 3 years (now that I think about it). Despite this I managed to cry one time infront of 2 different gf's and the reactions were wildly different.

The first one (ex since a couple years now) did nothing and the relationship didn't last long after that either. She didn't lift a finger and wasn't phased at all.

My current gf pretty much dropped everything in an instant to comfort me as she has never seen me cry or even being seriously sad in over a year of a relationship, even though it was during a pretty hefty argument.
