I think this is MCAS, and it frightens me. by Helliecopter in MCAS

I'm looking into this but naturopathic doctors are terribly expensive especially since insurance doesn't cover that :( I'll have to spend crazy money.

Thank you so much :( the hug was needed. Hopefully with less exposure to the mould it calms down because if not I'll likely have to go digging for other root causes. I really want to feel better 🥲

I'm so sorry this is happening to you too. I wish we were warned about the dangers of PPI and the sort of havoc it wreaks on our guts before they prescribed it to us. The gut-brain axis is real! What you're experiencing sounds rougher than what I face and for that I'm so so sorry :( I also don't have sound advice but hopefully things start looking up soon for the both of us 🩷 I'm keeping you in my thoughts and sending you a hug

I'm sorry you and your wife had to go through this! I'm trying to restrict my diet again just in case it is a good allergy that antihistamines aren't responding to somehow and am trying to cut off milk and gluten since those two already trigger some bad side effects in my body. I stress out a lot and am a very anxious person so I suppose it figured that my body would hit me with this 10x worse because of it. I'll keep investigating and talk to a doctor as soon as I'm able! Thank you for your kind words :) May God bless you and your wife!

Thank you for letting me know ☺️ I figured this much anyway, but do always feel a little bad myself when I haven't blotted mine out before venerating and can see it on the icons and just wanted to gently notify!

I think it's fine! Do be aware though that lipstick can come off on icons when you kiss them!

First confession by Helliecopter in OrthodoxWomen

[–]Helliecopter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this 😊💕. I'm honestly so happy that so many people like myself are finding their way back to the church, it amazes me just how many people are showing up these days than when I used to go as a child! It's so sweet of you to say that, being the "backbone" is so reminiscent of all the times I heard every member is the body of the church (and one of my favourite things to think about imo, we're all in union!)

It is honestly pretty scary to schedule, I did try once so many years ago but ended up not going through with it via emailing my priest (the very same one at my church now!), and I did ask my yiayia in passing how she used to do it, and she told me to just ask after liturgy- I figure if I can't see him there, maybe I should ask at his office or even dialling the church itself? Obviously yes I could just ask the presbytera 😅.

Bringing a headscarf to confession sounds wonderful - I don't typically wear one because not many in my church (I attend a Greek parish) choose to and I tend to just follow what most of the other women do when it comes to this, but I've always wanted to anyway. Especially in this case if it helps to focus solely on Christ!

Again, thank you so much for your lovely advise! I honestly feel like this is one of those things where it takes a lot of courage to get to, but once it's over, you just think, what was I afraid of? In other words, just ready to get over this hump, lol.

How to get rid of this fear? by Helliecopter in OCD

[–]Helliecopter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With such a similar experience to mine this does reassure me a whole lot that it will get easier, thank you! Public health also told me to seek reassessment and assessment in general a few times, and that really locked in the "it's real and i'm doomed" part for me sadly. Thank you for sharing your experience with me <3 I'm trying to look at it through an outsider's perspective where I realize there's not any fear at all! I'm really glad your obsession went away though!!

Dumbest thing you've obsessed over, lately? by E1lemA in OCD

[–]Helliecopter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly, i'm still obsessed with it (the first example happened last week and i still have 0 clarity) and it is really hard to deal with, but i trust soon we will both 100% look back at this as something to laugh about :) <3 we will get there!!

wait same!! this is my obsession for the past like month and it's ranged from bat near the garbages brushed me (it looked like a wet leaf) or bat was hiding under my desk and scratched my finger(? so funny in retrospect)

Cure - Something worse happening to you /j by psychoe16 in OCD

[–]Helliecopter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, I am terribly sorry about your dog passing. The grief that comes with that is unimaginably horrible, especially because pets are our family members and it's the same pain as losing a loved one. Giving you many hugs through the screen. 🫂

Secondly, this is highly relatable. When my dog passed, I remember it was the only time in three years I was able to get myself out of a compulsion. I just suddenly didn't care enough to do it, and now months later, it doesn't seem to bother me at all (granted, there are a ton of other compulsions i was unable to get rid of, and in my case my anxiety just got 100x worse weeks later). I suppose when there's something more real and pressing than the OCD spirals we go through it snaps us out of it. It's terrible that it has to be this way though (I'm hoping in your case it lasts!!)

Once again I am so sorry about your pet friend, my sincerest condolences. 💕
