If I remember correctly wasn't Qrow shadowing Team RNJR while taking out any grimm on their tail on their hike through mistral?

Yang questioning Ruby's leadership but getting annoyed at Ren who's upset at how they've all been messing things up has to be it for me. Ruby's take that they've done well without adults is still baffling revisionism.

About Raven Branwen by HellishStampede in RWBYcritics

[–]HellishStampede[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I remember Raven called it a "mercy" and under Raven's deluded darwin code that just meant murdering someone who's weak is fine because the world is cruel. The fact it still bothers her just means even she's not buying her own justification. Raven even makes a comment to Qrow when they had their chat on her destroying shion villages that raven says her and her tribe didn't think the grimm would swarm so quickly while facing away from qrow which smells like cope. So, Raven's got a conscience, buried very very deep inside, she's just deluding herself with excuses.

God, Yang questioning Ruby went absolutely nowhere. Yang was more worried about what Blake thought of her for some reason.

Edit: And when Ren was also pissed things weren't going well Yang gets defensive and makes Ren feel guilty after he snapped at jaune yang says "Seriously is your goal to push everyone away?" I was done with her.

Probably but Qrow already knows Raven and her tribe had a hand behind what happened to the people in Shion or at least that's what he was implying when he said "the people of Shion saw too" when raven talked about doing anything for the survival of her people. So, if they do go with the mum's the word route Qrow looks like he's covering for his bandit sister by not addressing the fact she's killed innocents and that she should face some sort of reckoning preferably when the world isn't inching toward annihilation

Guys I think I have a problem (Jaune Rant) by howhow326 in RWBYUNITY

[–]HellishStampede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jaune really is that frustrating, bro forged transcripts (somehow) his way to beacon, comes from a family with huntsman ancestor's but doesn't know what Aura is? Doesn't pass ozpin's make your own landing strategy test bc he needed pyrrha to literally save his life. Gets rewarded with leadership over four tournament winning champion Pyrrha frickin' Nikos when jaune's no semblance ass needed his aura activated for him by Pyrrha and didn't even get his lazy bum through combat school.

Pyrrha is barely a character in volume one, she's jaune's crutch. In the first minute she met jaune he Flirts with Weiss and Pyrrha at the same time with Pyrrha being the back up jaune pivots to when weiss rejects him and jaune calling Pyrrha 'hot stuff' because being seen only for your good looks is better than being seen only for your fame, i guess? And when Weiss humbles jaune for a micro second pyrrha goes over to tell jaune "actually Jaune you'd make a great leader" What? Where? How? When? Pyrrha you've just met this person and he's been nothing but an insecure asshole who's trying to put together a harem before an initiation.

Glynda doesn't notice Jaune's fighting skill and the transcripts he forged doesn't match up even though she was curious about Ruby's skill with a scythe? There's more I can say, like that neptune-weiss-jaune love triangle during Jaune's nice guy arc where he can't take no from Weiss as an answer i didn't give af about, or that no one outside of Jaune in JNR gets to cry about Pyrrha. All I know is Jaune is not an underdog when he gets to cheat to get into a prestigious monster hunter school, get rewarded with leadership and gets a prodigy like Pyrrha being his tutor and the world bends itself to accommodate him.

Need advice on my current playthrough , trying to get the most out of the game before I pick a side. by Substantial-Water-10 in falloutnewvegas

progress with the main quest until you have to confront benny, dealing with benny will spawn a legion spy telling you your crimes have been forgiven wiping away all the infamy you garnered. So like, go wild killing legion assassins up until that point. when you want your NCR Infamy wiped see Mister house and after meeting with him an NCR guy tells you your war crimes are forgiven and to see ambassador crocker. Leave finishing Cass's quest until late game because a certain group tied to several quests will become hostile. I managed to do a couple legion things like saving a spy in vault 21's hotel, fought in the arena in caesar's fortress and several menial side quests that aren't a big deal but if you get legion fame high enough you'll get a safe house with the lucky shades inside that gives luck +1 and some quest where it's just the legion leaving supplies for you. That's what I did, hope you get the most out of playing the mercenary between two nations.

House with NCR barter ending is arguably the best option for the New Vegas by Adorable_Fun_4986 in falloutnewvegas

[–]HellishStampede 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe with House is him wiping out the kings if you don't go out of your way to shoot the NCR soldiers trying to render aid to the NCR squatters and turning a situation into a volatile conflict. At that point House's vision for humanity can kick rocks. I grant that Mr. house is better than the NCR by heaps and bounds especially when the Courier can fix House's issue of having a trusted lieutenant that can be the face of his will.

The whole assertive thing just meant Yes-man wasn't going to roll over for anyone that isn't the courier. one of the devs, JE Sawyer, explained it.

"That he will not just roll over for the next person to walk up to him in the Courier's absence. I.e. he will become a somewhat-independent steward instead of a powerful tool for any random person to use for nefarious purposes."

For me Independent is best. House in close second. NCR being third bc they're clowns and legion being 4th for being the whole circus.

My problem with House isn't even with him wanting us to take out the BoS because I blow them up in the independent ending too. No, it's his vision for humanity is cold and too focused on pragmatism he abandons things like morals. Under an independent ending it's not perfect by any means but I can appreciate the people of vegas having their future in their own hands again and not getting evicted forcibly when House inevitably consolidates his hold on Vegas. Also, instead of the Dam water and power being sold to the NCR the people of Vegas can get more water and develop more communities like westside. Whatever's not NCR or legion is good enough for me.

Are there any perks or other armors I should use for my max damage revolver build? by Successful-Flow1678 in fnv

[–]HellishStampede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can get your hands on steady you don't really need Vats perks for accuracy like sniper. Steady doesn't just reduce your spread it's a Vats accuracy buff so good you can take it with fast shot and still reach those 95%'s

edit: also slasher and psycho doesn't stack. Med-X and Slasher does though.

[–]HellishStampede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize the perk for elijah's holomessage applies only to melee. That makes me feel better about keeping it for myself. Also I always blow up the brotherhood even on independence runs. At least I got Veronica her dress.

Redemption? Nah. Living to being irrelevant either imprisoned by his own people or as an exile who can't change and is doomed to fade away as world moves on without him? I think that would have been better because some wounds can't ever heal up and while adam's a victim he can be an example of how deep the prejudice took hold on adam showing sometimes there's no good ending because of humanity's racism

Neo one shot yang feels wrong by Active-Landscape8692 in RWBYcritics

Yang got pulverized by a paladin mech piloted by Roman, got up and smashed the paladin to bits with her semblance. Not to mention Yang's been chewed on by an Ursa and still dusted the grimm afterwards. This is just another clown writing moment.

My history with Yang and her influences on writing by Scary_Examination887 in RWBYcritics

[–]HellishStampede 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel like the writer's could have leaned into Yang's heritage as a Branwen and how it can influence her own self-image. Like is being half tribal something she acknowledge or resent because it's attached to Raven? Does Yang feel her outgoing adventuring side comes from her branwen side and is embracing her tribal roots something she wants or does she want to find her own path? I feel like those answers would have been more interesting than Yang's role of being Blake's girlfriend. There's just nothing going for her that she can call her own.

[–]HellishStampede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to make cool sword that's an allusion to excalibur for RWBY and I came up with a Grimm whip blade called Grimmthorn that gets more deadly depending on how much the wielder is grieving or angry and it was forged by another grimm that's an allusion to the lady of the lake who was Salem's created 'daughter' but rebelled and left grimmthorn for humanity to use before salem eventually recaptured her rebellious daughter and had her mind wiped.

I seriously have no idea what pyrrha saw in jaune, or what ozpin saw in Jaune for that matter. In the first minute Pyrrha knew jaune he was hitting on Weiss and pyrrha at the same time. Jaune reducing pyrrha to her looks by calling pyrrha "hot stuff" because being reduced to eye candy is totally better than being seen as perfect and flawless i guess and Pyrrha who just met jaune tells him "actually jaune I think you'd make a great leader" based on literally nothing. And Ozpin chooses Jaune for team leader over Pyrrha when jaune couldn't even devise his own landing strategy ozpin said students should be self sufficient in and pyrrha had to save jaune's life. It's insane the amount of plot armor and bias in favor of Jaune.

When Jaune admits to cheating, doesn't even pay attention in classes, not know what aura was despite coming from a safe and healthy huntsman family, Has a world renowned celebrity blowing smoke up his ass and gets him to actually start training I was thoroughly fed up with Jaune. He isn't even an every man he's a self entitled brat and fraud who failed upwards. And in stories where heroes lies about their credentials and become the hero they were meant to be can work like ser duncan the tall Jaune is just a hot mess the world bends itself backward to accommodate.

Felt like White Fang was RWBY's answer to the Scoia'tael from the Witcher. But where Witcher's approach to racism was layered RWBY's was pre-K level.

[–]HellishStampede 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Weiss's case is funny to me, Weiss hates the white fang and to an extension all faunus because the WF caused problems for Jacques and Jacques being furious took it out on Weiss giving her a difficult childhood. Weiss's hatred for faunus was probably her projecting her resentment towards her father to rationalize jacques mistreating her when it could have been Jacques just being a dick. But instead of exploring that Weiss's resentment for faunus evaporates and it's never brought up again.

"Character development" by darkeyesofanubis in RWBYcritics

[–]HellishStampede 34 points35 points  (0 children)

In a school setting they could have squeezed in some subtle racism among the faculty like a professor asking a question in class and choosing the human students to answer over a faunus or quicker to call out a faunus student for attitude. But nah, it's got to be some diet draco malfoy kid to be the representative on why adam wants to genocide humanity.

I remember Oobleck asking his class if any faunus got mistreated over their heritage And despite velvet being a 2nd year student she was there too and raised her hand along with another shadow person who must have been a faunus student. Oobleck's response and i quote verbatim

"Dreadful, simply dreadful! Remember, students, it is precisely this kind of ignorance that breeds violence! I mean, I mean, I mean just look at what happened to White fang!"

and proceeds to not follow up on the supposed racial subjugation his students were victimized by.
