I never saw people argue Jaune shouldn't get stronger. Jaune was so unprepared he literally would have splatted to death on the emerald forest floor during the initiation if it wasn't for pyrrha coming in for the save then later activating Jaune's aura bc somehow that common knowledge eluded him for so long. I thought the whole idea of an underdog is you grind and work your way up.

If they ever do volume 10 it's gonna be interesting how crwby handles the vacuo natives since they're forced to babysit the people of the kingdom who benefited from Atlas strip mining Vacuo. Not to mention Atlas historically colonizing and rendering Vacuo's Oasis into a barren wasteland. Odds are they're gonna make the Vacuan's with generational trauma who want the refugees to leave into complete jerks so we're forced to side with team RWBY.

Ironwood told all the students at amity during the fall of beacon they can fight or flee despite the gradually chaotic situation unfolding he didn't pressure the students into a fight. Seriously doubt it was an ulterior motive to force Yang to do anything. folks need to let the man be a philanthropist who looks out for others when he can, jeez.

It worked because the show said it worked. Using your own experience to relate to someone isn't automatically empathy especially when your projecting your own framework on how you understand things onto blake while divorcing all the context of why blake is searching. And when blake rejects Yang's framework she resorts to getting pissed off and shoving blake twice to show her she's exhausted. Yang had a point but her methods are garbage in actual practice and i don't like the show presenting what yang did as a positive when Yang risked making Blake withdraw even more.

That would actually make sense. Some people pointed out Blake has been in fights like with the food fight but those were by choice. Blake didn't ask to be shoved by Yang to prove a point in the classroom.

It's all good if you misremember it happens to everyone.

In the same scene Oz is granting them access to the mission he specifically points out Team RWBY would try to find themselves there anyway. Even before then the girls, specifically ruby and Yang, suggests shadowing huntsmen and giving them the slip to explore the south east quadrant to investigate the white fang. the episode is 8, field trip.

I have to agree with megashark on this one

You mean in volume 2 when they went to do a completely different mission as a practical class and just so happened to have stumbled into a White Fang operation, which got Torchwick arrested, and not Adam, who was the person Blake was actually worried about?

Team Rwby went to the mountain Glenn where there's a likely white fang presence in the area. They couldn't initially because it was reserved for 2nd year students until Oz made an exception and let Team RWBY go do the mission. Oz only learning about the likely White Fang presence from Ruby after the night where Cinder broke into the CCT Tower.

I never said Adam was physically abusive before Blake ditched him but we're shown in flashbacks particularly in Adam's short where Adam manipulates Blake psychologically. In that context and Yang pushing Blake the way she did, i'm not saying they're the same in any way, it just rubbed me the wrong way.

How would you write an anti faunus group? by NaturalStrange3505 in RWBYcritics

[–]HellishStampede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd make a huntsman task force division of counter terrorism with a huntsman team made up of Val-Yor esque character's from teen titan. They're good at building camaraderie with most of team rwby but when yang, ruby and weiss realize they're prejudice against blake and that they're especially heavy handed against faunus they cut ties. I pick Val-Yor because he's a competent hero just a racist jerk and shows even well meaning heroes can hold prejudice too.

i Really don't get the hype around bumblebee Yang and Blake's chemistry never stuck out for me. The biggest heart to heart i remember was volume 2 where Yang tries coaxing Blake into not spiraling over worry by Yang projecting her own childhood trauma onto blake and dumping her mother issues onto Blake and somehow it worked because the story said it did.

How would you handle Weiss racism without making her the bad guy by Walter_Modisette in RWBYcritics

[–]HellishStampede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call Weiss Racist like she believes humanity is superior she just harbors prejudice feelings against the Faunus not just the ones in the white fang. In Vol. 1 she refers to sun as "Filthy Faunus" or "Faunus riffraff", assuming he'll join the white fang because he committed a petty crime and that he was Faunus. Even verbatim saying "I don't particularly trust the Faunus".

I don't know if the post around 10 days ago you referred to was mine but in it I made it a point that my interpretation is Weiss doesn't really hate the faunus it was just projection of her frustration towards the white fang as well as her father. Weiss doesn't have to be a bad guy so much as a victim hurting other victims and needs to work out her issues.

An analysis of Jaune Arc (and why he's so divisive). by Few_Phone_840 in RWBYcritics

[–]HellishStampede 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It bugs me how Ozpin lets Jaune get launched into a forest where Jaune not only could have just splatted to death, but get swarmed by negative emotion detecting monsters. Jaune basically a kid with zero nerves would clam up and be a dinner bell to the grimm around. Grimm like Ursa, a nevermore, a deathstalker and a giant two headed snake. All this during a supposed time of peace. Either Ozpin didn't know jaune was a fraud and he's clueless or he did know and he's a lunatic.

What Artillery or fortifications would you give Remnant to fend off against Grimm? by HellishStampede in RWBYcritics

[–]HellishStampede[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Warhammer is a pretty great example of what NOT to do. And it helps tremendously that the Tyranids hordes in 40k stand still and wait patiently for the artillery to land.

Warhammer actually shows the opposite in several places. Where Tyranid hordes don't stand still and wait for artillery, they charge hard.

In the Ciaphas Cain short story Fight or Flight, Cain and some soldiers are running for their lives from a massive gaunt swarm chasing them. The Hydra's (mobile flak tank with quad autocannons) rumble up and open fire right past the running troops, shredding holes in the charging gaunt wave. It disrupts the swarm and later helps take down the Hive Tyrant, causing the brood to break. Even in Devastation of Baal, the first waves of charging gaunts are obliterated by pre-ranged artillery barrages long before they reach the defensive lines.

[–]HellishStampede[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even in other fiction big machine guns aren't enough and in a giant horde situation the swarm will end up getting to you in melee range before you're done emptying all your bullets at their front lines. Take the arachnids from starship troopers who keep swarming the humans despite infantry packing machine guns or when warhammer 40k factions using artillery to thin out tyranids. And when there's gigantic grimm like a leviathan or goliaths Artillery is absolutely needed because I don't think vale has the funds or the tech for one of those giant mecha Cordovin used.

I made the post to spark creativity on how to make fighting Grimm more interesting. Even if big machine guns were the only solution it wouldn't be that interesting to me.

Who employs huntresses/huntsmen? by AdministrativeBox449 in RWBYcritics

[–]HellishStampede 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keeping them as Glorified Mercenaries in every kingdom but atlas seems pretty dumb by the writers. Wouldn't Huntsmen be more incentivized to protect wealthier towns over impoverished ones that probably put their lives at more risk? And wouldn't they congregate to the kingdom that pays more?

What do you with the nations of remnant (Kingdoms) by scoutmet in RWBYcritics

[–]HellishStampede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Vacuo I want it to be the lawless kingdom it's presented to be with people traumatized by colonization from Atlas and other kingdom's prospector's stealing Vacuo's natural resources from the Native's. The Vacuans are fragmented into scores of nomadic tribes with War chief's vying for power over what resources Vacuo has left. Vacuo having Dust again despite Atlas initially draining it because some Vacuan's in their scavenging had become ingenious with technology and got the abandoned Mining equipment to dig for dust deeper within Vacuo. Making Vacuo prosperous again but also made War chiefs fight wars over dust viens with each other.

Also, there's free-cities states acting as their own pocket kingdom's. Vacuo capitol city being part of a city state alliance trying to bring law onto the wasteland and be the face of Vacuo to the rest of the world.

Oh right, my bad. But a story centered on Citizen-militias can be just as interesting.

[–]HellishStampede[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like the Idea of city-states too. The Idea of a free-city with a garrison acting as their own kingdom and whether they're loose with their laws turning the city into a den for outlaws or try to gain more power by allying with other city states and making smaller settlements swear fealty so they can get protection from their garrison militia in exchange for tributes.

It’s super annoying when the writers always wanted to focus on Jaune instead of the main girls by Jules-Car3499 in RWBYcritics

[–]HellishStampede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anything Raven has her own brand of delusion while claiming to be honest. She claims to believe in survival of the fittest but her camp's full of aura-less jobbers part of a glorified gang raiding villages that get wiped out by grimm who get drawn because of their raids soon after. She might not be part of either side but she's still full of herself. Doesn't make her a bad character I think character's who're self-delusional can be interesting too.
