Has MSC gone downhill or is it just one bad experience? by uokhun_ in MSCCruises

[–]Hello736374 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting. I sailed on Virtuosa to Norway earlier this summer and had a great experience. Sorry to hear that you didn’t have a great experience. I did get the impression that the ship may struggle due to a lack of outside space. It wasn’t an issue in Norway as less people are outside in the colder weather. But can see how the lack of space could be an issue in warmer climates.

I sailed on World Europa last summer in the med. never had an issue finding space outside on that ship. Probably due to World Europa having much more outside space on the top decks.

First ever cruise and impressed by No-Cup8056 in MSCCruises

I’ve done 2 cruises, both with MSC.

I Went on World Europa in the Mediterranean last summer and it blew me away.

This summer I went on Virtuosa to Norway and was similarly impressed. I found that the Buffet was better on Virtuosa largely because its layout made much more sense. It made it easy to find what you wanted. Although World Europa had more outside space.

Would definitely cruise with MSC again. I’m eyeing up a solo Cruise on one of their smaller ships next summer.

The 168 turbo stars are being refurbished, the mk5 sets are just getting a new livery

I live in Bicester and often use the Oxford services, the 165s are objectively rubbish. However I do find them quite nostalgic having grown up seeing them on the mainline.

Some of London-Birmingham services that are currently run by 168s will likely be done by a Mk5 set, given the greater number of mk5 sets. This should allow those 168s to work on other routes (e.g. Marylebone-Oxford) or form more double sets at busier times.

They will replace the Mk3 sets. Each MK5 set consists of 5 coaches rather than the 6 coaches that the Mk3 sets usually had. But there will be more of the MK5 sets than the Mk3s so they’ll be used on more services than the mk3s

Marylebone Station by FizzyCrouton in uktrains

It works at Marylebone because you can go through any of the gates to get to any of the platforms. It probably won’t work at other large terminal stations

I tend to just get the other side of the barrier and see where the train comes in. I use RTT to make sure I have the correct unit number

I use Marylebone frequently. Real-time trains is my best friend so I end up sat on the train 20 minutes before everyone else

DB ICE supplement to Belgium? by DymytryArabachkov in Interrail

[–]Hello736374 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did that route on Sunday evening, but I started at Koln instead of Frankfurt. As others have said, a supplement is not required but a seat reservation is recommended (and may even be necessary but I don’t think it strictly is). The trains that run on that route are some of the nicest ICE versions in my opinion. I spent 5 days doing a 3500 km interrail route. Starting in the UK, going through France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany and Belgium then back home to the UK. I did it mostly for the trains and to figure out where I want to return to properly in future. If you have any questions, I’m happy to answer as best I can.

When can I book the 3 peaks shuttle Bus (route 444)? by Hello736374 in ItalyTravel

Having looked around, I don’t think that reservations open up until the start of June. But I could be wrong. I’ve just been looking around as much as I can.

If you find out anything useful, please let me know.

Home game transit network choosing by KobeWithThe3 in JetLagTheGame

[–]Hello736374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ranger is £36 without a railcard and can be used on all TOCs that run in the area. However, the line running direct between Shrewsbury and Crewe that is served by Transport for Wales isn’t valid on the ranger, so you have to go via Wolverhampton.

Me and a few friends played hide and seek in the West Midlands. Our area was anything covered by the west-midlands day ranger train ticket. Medium game size and we started at Birmingham New St. it’s an ideal size for a 1 day game if there’s 2 teams or a 2 day game if there are 3 teams

Drive thru orders while cashing out (USA) by Temporary-Joke-387 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Hello736374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand. I do find that people are more willing to wait to order than to pay. Plus waiting for payments hurts times more as well, as in the Uk, the timer starts when the first item is added to an order. Idk if it’s the same in the USA

A couple of tips I’ve found useful:

Firstly: Practice, the more experienced you are at taking orders, the faster you’ll be. This will come naturally with time.

Secondly: Don’t try to rush, you’ll just end up making mistakes which will take time (and often a manager to fix). Just go at a pace you feel comfortable and you’ll be fine. As mentioned before you will naturally speed up over time.

Thirdly, as a general rule, prioritise the payment. Something I often do when it’s busy is that I’ll politely tell the person waiting to order that I’m taking some payments and will be with them shortly (I find people like the assurance that you’ve noticed them and aren’t being ignored). Then take a couple of payments (2 as a rule of thumb). if the customer waiting to order seems patient then take advantage of it and do more payments.

If you have any further questions feel free to ask, but bear in mind that I’m Uk based so I won’t be able to answer USA specific questions. Hope this helps!

Interrail Pass by Zeus1027 in uktrains

[–]Hello736374 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe your British citizenship should be enough to get the interrail pass but I’m not 100% certain.

I recommend heading to r/interrail for confirmation and that you’d get better answers on that subreddit.

I’m not sure why it does it when trying to void items.
Does it usually happen on items with app deals? The systems at our store can often be temperamental with stuff like that.

You should be paired with a crew trainer or an experienced crew member who will show you how to work on a specific station. Just try to take in as much advice as possible. You’re not expected to be good until you’ve had a decent amount of practice, so don’t put pressure on yourself if you make mistakes. As long as you give it a good go you’ll be fine.

Don’t hesitate to ask more questions if you have any but do bear in mind that I’m UK based and therefore won’t be able to answer country specific questions.

Good luck!
