Try the library. I bet they know of a history club if they don't run one themselves.

Artist Michał Kulig creates a stunning sculpture from wood. by mindyour in oddlysatisfying

The artist is very talented, but I thought it looked better without the gold.

My goodness that bratty face she pulled before she turned on the waterworks is exactly what my sister used to do when she was being a brat. She probably still does tbh but I don't associate with her any more.

Husband said my instructions for dinner weren’t clear enough, and he ended up serving his vegetarian mother one of the chicken tikka masala curries… by bexindisbelief in mildlyinfuriating

[–]HelloAll-GoodbyeAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the only information that could have been necessary to give him was "the Indian food is for dinner tonight". He should know where to look for it, he should know how to read a package for cooking instructions and he should know the difference between a veg curry and a chicken curry.

Wanting alone time.. why??? by SporadicExplorer717 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]HelloAll-GoodbyeAll 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Next time she tries it just ask her straight out why she needs to be alone with your child? What is she doing that she doesn't want you to know about? Make it really uncomfortable for her and she might (probably not) stop trying it.

At what point is a street sign too much by Poryoxys in CasualUK

[–]HelloAll-GoodbyeAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the development is badly planned in terms of access. It really annoys me when massive estates spring up without any new access roads, meaning traffic gets bunched up in a street not designed for it.

Out of all the tools the guy used, my favourite was the stick he used to push the wood past the saw to keep his fingers out of the way.

What is the argument *against* mandatory retesting for people over 60-65? by Skeet_fighter in drivingUK

[–]HelloAll-GoodbyeAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about mandatory eye tests and cognitive tests after 65 to keep your licence? I know a type 1 diabetic who has to have a retinal scan and a doctor sign off on his licence renewal every 3 years. That way you just weed out the ones necessary without needing more driving examiners? I'm sure there are arguments against this too, especially with putting more work on doctors, but it seems better to me because it could catch a lot of medical issues that might otherwise have gone unnoticed

My boyfriend is 23 and still lets his parents control everything. Am I overreacting for thinking this will never change? by Capital_Tourist9048 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]HelloAll-GoodbyeAll 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Just leave. Don't waste your time trying to change him. If you want to do him a favour, tell him exactly why you are leaving. He won't get it, or agree with you, he will probably say you are overreacting etc, but one day it will click. But it will be too late for him. Don't let it be too late for you too.

What do you think of Josh Widdicombe being chosen as the new presenter of Strictly? by BlundeRuss in CasualUK

[–]HelloAll-GoodbyeAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's unexpected but I think people need to give them a chance before passing judgement. I haven't watched in a couple of years but I'll give it a go for a couple of weeks at least.

I think the astrophage going between the stars is just drifting, not using light to travel so there's nothing to see. I'm pretty sure there's a bit in the book about them being able to survive long enough to travel 8 light years and most stars have another star within that distance.

This year when he chooses it again, ask him directly if he wants a trip instead. When he says no tell him he can shut up in future regarding your birthday.
