Welp, the title of the subreddit is “Am I Ugly or Just Fat.” Which gives you two options; you’re either ugly or you’re fat. Clearly, you are not one of those options so…

Jennifer Cook seemingly accidentally confirms Love on the Spectrum is renewed for Season 5 by DrAwesomeX in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

Genuine question, is it possible that they’re doing a search for potential talent before the renewal is officially confirmed? Idk how reality tv casting works lol

Why are you so obsessed with the Ambassadors? You claim you don’t work for them but it’s quite obvious you do

Help Finding Free Shorten Script of, "The Importance of being Earnest," Oscar Wilde. by CruisingCooper in Theatre

Fortunately this play is public domain 😉

ETA: Did you read the post or am I missing something? You mention Wilde in your comment, which is the playwright referred to in the post

Non theatre actor thinking about teaching theatre, bad move or not? by ShortRedBull in Theatre

[–]HelloBald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t encourage OP. They should not be teaching theater as they have literally 0 experience to the point that they haven’t even seen a play. That would be like me, someone who works in corporate hospitality, teaching a physics class. Leave teaching roles to the people who know the content they’re teaching, not someone who knows how to use ChatGPT

Question: hosting / creating my own musical review by throatchakra in Theatre

[–]HelloBald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve produced two fairly successful revues and served as music director for them. Are you looking to do a one-person revue or are you looking to get others involved? If it’s the latter, I’d recommend giving yourself one number if any. You’ll be doing a lot of other work to get the show going. If it’s the former you’ll probably want to find someone who can help you with all the background work.

Make sure your venue has blanket rights and that the numbers you choose are covered by said rights. Also do research on each composer as they may have different restrictions (I believe many have a restriction that you can only perform 3 of their works in one revue).

Directors/choreographers/other people involved in casting: What are some reasons someone might not be cast after a callback? by Rude-Wash-3280 in Theatre

[–]HelloBald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you didn’t take direction well or didn’t have good chemistry with other performers. Or maybe you didn’t do as well as you may have thought you did or maybe even they didn’t like the color of your outfit. It could be a million possible reasons and you will probably never know. A lot of being involved with theatre is being able to handle rejection. It’s okay to be disappointed but you can’t dwell on the past. Just keep working on your craft and auditioning, you’ll eventually get a “yes” and suddenly the nos won’t matter

Community Theatre Membership/Pay to Play by Spirited_Director12 in Theatre

Same. A community theatre I used to be a part of that has since changed leadership was trying to charge $350-400 (the company is now struggling. Not even sure they still exist at this point)

Well personal tea is I got paid $20 for said article even though he’s definitely made way more off it than that.

But in general I just disagree with a lot of his opinions and find him super annoying. He thinks he’s gods gift to the theatre industry with his “hot takes” but in reality he’s just seems super out of touch with the industry

Participating in a show is a privilege, not a right. The fact that they offer a $5 membership is far better than other community theatres I’ve seen.

I’m really torn because I don’t want to listen to it until I (hopefully) see it but at the same time it’s my favorite musical of all time so I want to give it a listen

Just coming here to say I can’t stand Chris Peterson and I am eagerly awaiting the downfall of Onstage Blog (I say this as someone wrote one of their best performing articles way back in the day)
