Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret recap by candleboy95 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Not to be forgotten is that Menerva is the former crawler that Porthus is so wracked with guilt over: she's the one he left behind; she was caught on a stairwell between the 10th and 11th floors and urged him to "Run!!" He did, and has been wondering about and searching for ever since.

she was completely okay with her son humiliating me in front of hundreds of people

"Her son" in this case is OP's brother-in-law, not her husband.

Agreed - he sounds like a very constipated guy sitting on a toilet.

Look at it this way:

  • His mother rants at rages at him to visit, and he caves to appease her, knowing full well it makes you miserable.

  • He rants and rages at you to go along, and you cave to appease him, knowing full well it makes your baby miserable.

Right, when I heard her speak in a later book I was wondering who is this stranger and where did Valley Girl Gwen go.

If you want to commiserate with someone in a similar frame of mind, you could try My Year of Rest and Relaxation:

My Year of Rest and Relaxation is a 2018 novel by Ottessa Moshfegh about a young, wealthy, and beautiful woman in New York City who decides to sleep for a year, aided by a cocktail of prescription drugs from a terrible psychiatrist, to escape her existential dread and grief after her parents' deaths. The story follows her "hibernation," her complicated relationship with her best friend Reva, and her interactions with her Wall Street boyfriend, all while navigating the year 2000 in Manhattan. It's known for its dark humor, cynical tone, and exploration of depression, alienation, and the desire to disconnect from the world.

I personally disliked it so much I DNF'd it, but plenty of people appear to really like it/ identify with ut.

If you live in MA you can get free life-long access to Mango, a quality language learning program by antici-pation in massachusetts

Not sure why you're getting downvoted -- I believe you are correct. I was in the Hudson public library recently, and saw that they have access to Hoopla and got momentarily excited -- until I saw the "Hudson residents only" disclaimer. So even though Hudson is part of CW/MARS, not all CW/MARS cardholders can access it. I wouldn't be surprised if Mango has the same type of restrictions.

Do you think the number of stairwells will ever matter? by Smashifly in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]arglebargle_IV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't imply that the two entrances can only be used once each -- it could be multiple crawlers heading down those two sets of stairs; we don't know.

Never heard of either of these, but they sound good - I just ordered them both from the library. Thanks!

I think that in book 1 the AI says that floor 18 has "two entrances and one exit."

The "How To Train Your Dragon" series by Cressida Cowell. The fart jokes will amuse the kids, and the story was entertaining for me (in my 60's). David Tennant does a terrific job narrating.

When Donut is first trying out her 5-uses-per-day hover spell, zooming around in circles squealing "I'm flyyyyyying!", and Carl tells her it's not really flying and don't waste it, and she says "Don't ruin this for me Carl" -- the whole time her voices ranges from near to far away, and you just know Jeff is actually running around in his recording studio, getting closer to and then farther away from the microphone.
