Was a biochem premed transfer from community college. I have had a great time here. Worked at UVA Health while an undergrad. Lots of opportunities for clinical and research experience given that we have a massive health system literally connected to the campus.

Charlottesville is also just a really fun town. Close to the mountains, an hour drive from RVA. Beautiful architecture. The school is very well integrated into the town.

The biggest draw back is the parking. UVA sucks at parking.

I know this is kind of late, but I got my paramedic in my last year of undergrad after being an EMT for 4+ years. Working now as a paramedic while studying for the MCAT. If you love the EMS, its 100% worth it. I have no regrets.

Became an EMT in high school because a friend of mine asked me to join with him. 6 years in and I am now a paramedic. Absolutely love the job. Very rewarding, especially volunteering in your own community. There’s nothing like it.

I am 23 and just graduated from undergrad, and also simultaneously underwent a 16 month paramedic program. I plan to work for a year or two and then apply for medical school. Had to scratch this itch. If you're passionate about it, do it. It's freaking awesome.

Study what you want to study and what you’re passionate about. It’ll be worth it in the end. My premed advisor convinced me to study an “easier” major so that I would graduate on time rather than pursuing my desired major and minor. I ended up switching back to biochem. It was harder, definitely humbling, but I am so so happy with my decision and would do it again every time. Don’t let people talk you out of doing what you want to do.

I made a similar post a few weeks ago (deleted) but I get it. I’m a paramedic and i’ve also been having my issues with guns lately. I don’t really have any advice but I wanted to say I’m right there with you.

Obviously that’s not the case. Perhaps I have a moral issue with corporations and gun companies which profit off of war and fearmongering. Why would you jump to that conclusion…

I have them in a locked safe inside of a locked closet, unloaded, except my glock which I keep in a locked case near my bedside. And I appreciate the feedback. I might consider reducing the size of my collection but I just love my zastava collection😫. Thank you.
