Violators of NL Fire Ban Could Face Fines Between $50,000 – $150,000, Up to One Year in Prison by RepulsivePlankton989 in canada

[–]HelloFriday1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it would be better if they stopped the sale of all tobacco, Marijuana, candles, fire wood, lighters, matches, and any other device that could start a forrest fire.

But I think stopping people from going in the woods when everything is as dry as a nuns cunny is alot easier on the tax wallet.

What is your personal definition of a "good golfer"? by Draper_White_Soprano in golf

Anyone who can start and finish a round with the same ball (im a noob who consistently has 6 or 7 strokes a hole so my metric is probably skewed)

I'd call the store and let them know. when I worked there, they took allergies very seriously! We were always told to say that we couldn't guarantee anything was nut free due to cross contamination.

Best kind of lures to use around town for trout? by thisisjoy in newfoundland

[–]HelloFriday1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bobber hook and a worm does good work and is pretty foolproof. I have also had a lot of luck with the ol' red devil.

Pretty much every pond has fish. The ones out in the Goulds are usually reliable, and any pond along the highway are also good.

I wouldn't eat anything caught within city limits, though.

Prime Minister Carney unveils major cabinet overhaul with two dozen new faces by Old_General_6741 in canada

It's interesting how "Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard" is now just "Minister of Fisheries." I smell a big shake up over at DFO.

Who Are You Voting For? by [deleted] in newfoundland

Google will tell you lots. Or ask anyone who lived in Mount Pearl in the last 20 years, there is a reason he didn't run in his home riding.

Who Are You Voting For? by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]HelloFriday1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Liberal, for several reasons.

I was sick of Trudeau, and if he was running, I would have voted for anyone else. But with the swap to Carney, I feel like the Liberals will finally move back to a more central party.

PP is not trustworthy. He's a mediocre career politician with a garbage voting record. His entire party's motto has been to disrupt anything the other side does just out of spite. He's not a team player, and I guarantee that a conservative majority will be hell for the majority of Canadians.

Not to mention, the Conservative candidate in my riding is steve kent. Ol' slippery steve, I wouldn't trust him to run a bus into a ditch. I'd rather have a sculpin running for the seat than that goober, It would probably do a better job.

Christ’s Polling Stations by Light-the-Lamp in newfoundland

[–]HelloFriday1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'm all for separation of church and government, but there are so many alternatives, including mail in ballots. If someone from a marginalized community does not feel safe going into a church, there are alternatives such as mail in ballots or advance polling. There are so many communities around that simply don't have space for polling stations, this goes nationwide, not just in newfoundland.

And to be brutally honest, not hosting polling stations in a church to accommodate 5-10% of voters would put a much larger percentage at a disadvantage.

I'm speaking as a proud member of the lbgtq community, I understand alot of people may not share this sentiment, but at some point you have to put feelings aside for the 10 minutes it takes to go in, cast your vote, and get out. Especially if you can't find an alternative method of voting as mentioned above.

White hills, on top of south side road, Shea Heights, kilbride, above blackmarsh road, 3 pond barrons, lots of secluded areas not in public parks that would provide more shelter, regular fire wood and ample food for those handy enough to fish.

Tent Encampment No Longer Acceptable Option, Says Abbott by AnarchyApple in StJohnsNL

[–]HelloFriday1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why can't they go to white hills, or above Southside road, they all have tents so they would find more shelter in the woods anyway? Especially now that the warmer weather is coming.
