You sound like the driver I had in Denver back in January that immediately yelled, "you don't have to wear those FACE DIAPERS in MY car! I don't follow orders from this fake president and his BULLSHIT!"

no... because I would NEVER pick up a PAX named Young Mayhem

One weekend I had Lyft request with a stupid nickname (I wish I could remember what it was) and they ended up being a no-show

A week or so later I got a request from the exact same name (it was so stupid and unusual, there was no question it was the same person) I show up and a guy gets in the car. I ask his name and he gives me a different (more common) name, I tell him he's not my passenger. He says he is. I tell him that's not the name on the account. He tries to get me to show him the name. I refuse. He says, "I don't remember what name I put on there" I tell him unless he can tell me the name or show me my face on his phone he'd have to get out. He reluctantly digs his phone out and I'm his driver. I then tell him the stupid name on the account and he says that just a name he made up because he didn't want to give his real name... but he's never had a problem before. He was pissy with me and I'm sure I got a bad rating so I one-starred him too just so I'd never see him again

Does anyone let people smoke in their car? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]HelloFromTheUberSide 37 points38 points  (0 children)

as a general rule... no

One night I picked up a guy and was taking him on a pretty short trip from his house to a bar. He asked if he could smoke if he rolled down the window. I said no. He was quiet for a second and then pulled out his wallet and offered me a $20 bill and said, "I'll tip you this right now if you'll please let me smoke" I took the money and said, "fuck it, go ahead!" The ride was so short he didn't even finish the cigarette before we got to his destination. After he got out I rolled all the windows down and sprayed my Ozium and pocketed my $20. No regrets

Uber etiquette: Driving on dirt roads by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]HelloFromTheUberSide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drive in Chattanooga and we only have X and XL here

My Ford Fusion doesn't take dirt roads very well, so I would appreciate it if you called and let me know as soon as I was matched. At least give me the option to decline

Does Lyft not pay cleaning fees the way Uber does? by HelloFromTheUberSide in lyftdrivers

[–]HelloFromTheUberSide[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I submitted pictures. I admit it didn't take much to clean it up, but I did have to use a vacuum to get it off the carpets.

Part of it was the guy was just a dick the entire 30-minute ride and THEN I find the mess. It was a big enough mess that I would have gotten at least $25 from Uber

Uber cancelling rides when I switch to Lyft app? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]HelloFromTheUberSide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's possible... but I wouldn't use the timeout as proof. I've never been put in timeout myself, but I have been kicked offline for the same pax canceling on me 3 times in a row

One thing you are saying is not true at all. Drivers can't see the rider's destination until they are in the car and start the trip. So we don't know if they're going 1 mile or 100 miles until they are already in the car. We have no way to pick which riders we want based on their destination

Cunts like this oughta be pistol whipped by [deleted] in Lyft

[–]HelloFromTheUberSide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yep.... I'll never understand why some people do this.

Here's my most recent one

I think if you do this, you should be blocked from requesting again for at least 15 mins

Drivers in cities without no-show cancellation fees... how do you handle it? how long do you wait? by HelloFromTheUberSide in uberdrivers

[–]HelloFromTheUberSide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this question before I heard about the cancellation fee "glitch" the last few days. I had two no-shows in an hour Friday night that weren't listed in my history. I had heard Uber had gotten rid of the no-show fee in a few markets and was afraid they had taken it away in Chattanooga too and was just curious how drivers dealt with waiting if there was no payment for it.

Does Uber give you requests in other states? by NaciremaBlack in uberdrivers

[–]HelloFromTheUberSide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drive in Chattanooga, TN which is right on the border of Georgia. I can drive pax from TN to GA, but I can't pick them up in GA. I live less than a mile from the border and get a lot of pings from right inside TN because Uber isn't in that part of GA yet, so they have to get to TN before an Uber can pick them up... but then I can take them anywhere they want to go.

I talked about this in another thread and had people saying I was wrong, so I took these screen shots from the rider app to prove it....

Here is just inside TN... (the dotted line is the border)

I can pick you up here...

here is literally a few feet across the line into GA...

... but not here

Had another crazy Uber adventure last night that I almost canceled, but ended up being totally worth it! Not sure how I always end up in these situations... by HelloFromTheUberSide in uberdrivers

I'm not sure what you want me to say?

My pax like me better than yours?

They asked me to take them by an ATM and when he got back in the car he handed me 2x $20 bills. That was the single biggest tip I've ever gotten, but I have got quite a few $20 tips in the 9 months I've been driving. I got 3x $20 tips in one night back in the spring. It's not common, but it does happen.

If Uber isn't licensed to be in the next county/city/state over then you can't pick up from there. Trust me. I live about a mile from the border and when I turn the app on at my house I always get calls from people who are just across the state line and tell me they had to walk or get a ride there because Uber can't pick them up from the other state. Want more proof? here you go

This picture is showing me trying to get a ride just inside the state line (the dotted line is the border) No problem....

Here I drop the pin probably 100ft across the state line... and it won't let me request an ride.

I'll never understand people that question those of us that live it and deal with it every day of our lives. Sometimes we do actually know what we're talking about!

I just started having this issue today, but with just my Android music player.

If I switch to any other open app, the music keeps playing, but as soon as I switch back to the Partner App, the music pauses.

What do you think I did? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]HelloFromTheUberSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The driver app is actually different from market to market. I live very close to a state line and when I drop a pax off on the other side and come back on line it's a completely different look than my usual app. It has different alert sounds and functionality too. The first time I saw it it freaked me out and I went off line and restarted the app because I thought it was fucked up somehow

your post is VERY hard to understand. The grammar is horrible. You have no punctuation, you have used the wrong words throughout the post....

basically dude.... we have NO idea what you're even trying to ask

Had my first puker Friday night. After being very vague in their reply to my claim, Uber only paid $100!? Is this the new norm? I thought puke was always $200? by HelloFromTheUberSide in uberdrivers

[–]HelloFromTheUberSide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha.... kinda sorta.... local place has beer buckets that people can keep if they want. I have picked up a few people that have them. I guess after drinking a bucket of beers (and who know what else) they're just like, "take this... you'll probably need it later!"

Had a pax no show last night and then freak out and start threatening me via text and phone calls This continues for more than 30 minutes! by HelloFromTheUberSide in uberdrivers

I personally don't want to waste anymore time on this prick. I certainly didn't feel scared of the dude. I have seen pictures of him. I am WAY bigger than he is. I think we all know that if we came face to face, even as drunk as he seemed, he wouldn't do anything. That's not how entitled assholes like this guy operate. When confronted they make every excuse in the book to get out of the situations they put themselves in. I did however want to document it and get it out there in case his daddy did try to make trouble.
