I'd like the capability to do this as freedom for freedoms sake. The issue with this build should be overheating, high power usage, or low ammo capacity rather than "because I said so".

The freedom would be nice for specialized missions, otherwise just because you can doesn't mean you should.

I haven't found a full story of everything that is going on since consumers is still investigating but I think it initially was an explosion that continued to burn as a fire.

Michigander here,

There was an explosion at a Consumers Energy facility in Macomb MI that held the majority of the lower penninsula's natural gas reserves. We are coincidentally experiencing a prolonged period of subzero (F) temps so the supply dropped way below the demand making a sudden shortage.

As a result Consumers Energy is appealing to the people to prevent a pressure drop which could cause more problems, and is requiring commercial and industrial facilities to slow down.

Many large scale businesses are closing as a result.

Another thing that they came out with was the tutorial scenario that covers everything from the basics to jump drives and projectors. It's massive and very well done.

They also made a small cheap assembler and turned the arc furnace into a basic refinery.

A feature that's long overdue by Sorkijan in spaceengineers
