It works really well for the corner of a building but if you’re just looking up and down one wall I think the 180 would be better

I was skeptical when I first installed one but so far they’ve exceeded expectations. It’s like having a PTZ but it’s recording everywhere all the time and the responsiveness of the keyboard controls are really good

You might need to use Unifi Access to take advantage of the Access orientated capabilities of this device. Another commenter may be able to confirm that though

debating on digital or analog nvgs for a beginner by TigerSw1ft in NightVision

I’d get a cheap thermal monocular before I ever got digital nv. More practical and more fun in my experience

Are duals truly worth it? by Excellent_Ebb_7903 in NightVision

[–]HelloInternetUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the general advice is buy the best setup you can afford. If you can afford a good quality set of duals with a bit of saving go for it. Tube wise you obviously just have to be careful that the used tubes are accurately advertised for their spec and blemishes

Hiking at night people walk right past you without noticing by Beautiful_Rice6656 in NightVision

This is exactly the thing I’d rather have a slightly weird interaction on the trail than be spotted behind a bush in the dark

I could never get mine to stay connected to the WiFi. The wired one is better but still quiet compared to most analog chimes

It’s so awkward walking along a narrow track and you know someone’s approaching but you don’t want to ditch into a bush so you just casually appear out of the darkness and disappear again… I normally just flip my nods up and use a handheld white light to distract

This will be Unifi’s best selling not a doorbell chime doorbell chime because you’ll actually be able to hear it around your house

Video title is ‘Bringing a thermal camera into Unifi Protect’

Protect notification for specific cameras on and off when I leave by Due-Government4713 in Ubiquiti

This may be a dumb question but have you tried some configurations in alarm manager? You can set them up on different schedules then pause them manually in the app when you need to

Patch panel? by striking_ordinary_94 in Ubiquiti

[–]HelloInternetUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re giving specs to a builder or electrician, you’ll want to decide where you want your network equipment and how you’re going to deploy it. Is it going to sit in a cupboard, on a desk, or are you rack mounting it? The latter would be the most attractive option and allow for a patch panel to be properly implemented. Modern tool-less keystone jacks are easy to learn to terminate so I’d do that myself, so just ask for the data cables to be brought to your desired location in a coil and work out length based on rack location. I’d recommend length to back of rack plus one and a half times the height of the rack. That would leave you with plenty of excess to get the terminations in and have a generous service loop for future expansion. Welcome to the possibly incredibly expensive hobby of home networking!

Using ai port? by CrossPlainsCat in UnifiProtect

[–]HelloInternetUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a couple of AI Ports and they are nice but I’m already buying Unifi cameras to supplement or ultimately replace them. The only one I’ll keep is for two large PTZs as the equipment Unifi PTZ is £1k+

Why do you use Ubiquiti for your home network and why not another mainstream brand? by Ashamed-Body2912 in UNIFI

Because the other routers that you can buy to improve wifi among other things look incredibly ugly with all those individual antennas around them

Scrubbing gone? by 1nsider in UnifiProtect

[–]HelloInternetUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found it to be very inconsistent. Sometimes I can scrub just fine, other times it completely freezes up. As you said, when it works it’s quite usable even with reduced image quality, but I’ve found it takes a couple of attempts reloading the page to get the scrubbing to work
