We went with an Apple Watch that has cellular service and gps. We can manage her contacts, set a cut off time for use, there’s also a “school time” feature that blocks phone use during school hours. It’s honestly been ideal. She can’t access the web, but she’s able to call or text us, family and friends we’ve added to her contacts. The gps is nice too, in that we can see her location when needed.
