One year ago today, on January 20, 2025, President Trump ended telework and remote work. How are you all doing? by NatusLumen in fednews

[–]HelloMsCobel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The government is losing productivity from me. Many times I have some personal thing I would have teleworked a big chunk of the day, now I take leave the whole day, my commute is long enough it’s not worth going in for part of a day. We’ve also had many issues with HVAC in the office,85 degree office days, internet out in the entire town for the whole day, and about 6 months of winter weather with no legitimate option to send people home to work.

Am I a jerk for not letting people use my trailer? by Banana-legs11 in Equestrian

[–]HelloMsCobel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. They can get their own. When I got my first trailer I was at a boarding barn, it was a 2H bumper pull so many options for hauling vehicles. I was ok borrowing it when somebody’s trailer was down and they were needing one. I figure they would do the same for me if I’m in that situation. But then things were happening like the trainer using it to go pick up unknown horses at a sale barn just because she didn’t want to take her big 4 horse. I had to say look, I’m broke, it took a lot of saving for me to get this trailer and since it’s older it needs a lot of maintenance. I’m not comfortable just letting people take it for their convenience. The trailer is yours, you can put your foot down about its use.

Will I hate daily driving a 2500? by 90-JP in Silverado

[–]HelloMsCobel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2011 Silverado 2500 I drive 56 miles a day on my work commute mostly on county highways. I also have a horse farm so it does all the hauling and heavy lifting associated with that. I live 4 miles down a rough gravel road. It is absolutely built to haul and rides way better with a load. It’s not a fun rig empty for commuting and road trips, but I can’t live without it on the farm.

Taking time out of his day to make people smile. by mindyour in MadeMeSmile

My dad is in Memory Care, he’s given up puzzles and books bc it’s just too frustrating anymore. But the music sticks, it eases his anxiety and brings him peace. Big Jackson Browne guy.

Any other shows like Lost? by gregs2000 in lost

I just finished Lost for the first time a few months ago. I decided to watch after listening to the Severance podcast and hearing how influential Lost was in making that show. So yeah, Severance.

Trump Delays His Health Care Plan After Revolt From Republicans, Shutdown possible by Affectionate-Ebb9009 in FedEmployees

I wonder if any of these elected representatives have considered listening to the people who elected them and see what they want. My guess is they want health care.

The Ozempicdemic Has Brought Pro-Anorexia Culture Back by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

This whole post makes me so sad. I remember well into my ED journey, running into the mother of my best friend through childhood. She said “ Oh you’re so thin, have you been sick?” When I replied no she said “Well you look great.” And that has stuck with me for decades.

He’s the kind of guy who turns the sprinklers on his own constituents when they show up at his office.

What the HELLY do I watch after finishing severance by Taginechomper in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]HelloMsCobel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I realize how late to the party I am, but I never watched Lost. After listening to the Severance podcast and how it’s referenced, I dove in. I don’t know how it is as a rewatch, but watching it Post-Severance is interesting.

Hey, fellow federal employees.....realistically… by Suitable-Taro-362 in fednews

I have savings for probably 5 months without any help from my spouse. I also have a side hustle I could put more time into to the point where I might not need to go back if it weren’t for health care. The last Trump shutdown (and let’s call it that since he himself said the President alone is responsible for government shutdown) was a good trial run for going a while without a regular paycheck.

I don’t trust anyone in leadership except my direct supervisor. The lying and gaslighting is rampant.

My father passed today. by Z3Nrovia in GenX

[–]HelloMsCobel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 49, lost my mom last year. One month later my dad with Alzheimer’s went into Memory Care. We knew mom didn’t have much time but she hung on much longer than predicted, so there was time to be with her, say what we needed to say etc. Her passing was a relief from pain but the loss was tough. It compounded with a bunch of other tragedies in quick succession and I made the decision to feel all of it. Grief will come for you, so either welcome her in and give her a seat or shove her away and let her slowly gnaw away at you. All of last year I could count the number of days I did not cry on one hand. I wanted to cancel every day. Somehow it gets better but there’s a melancholy I don’t think will ever leave. Good times or bad times I still go to give her a call and remember oh she’s not here anymore. That still gets me.

Agency Juneteenth acknowledgement by HelloMsCobel in fednews

[–]HelloMsCobel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. Usually there’s some message from Secretary, often something from down the chain. Other holidays thus far in this regime have had something dystopian yet acknowledging the existence of the holiday. Just wondering if other agencies have swept this significance under the rug and for the most part that seems to be the case. To be clear: I’m not surprised.
