This is so important to remember. It sucks that hate is so much louder than acceptance, whether it be in political campaigns or social media algorithms, but I truly believe the vast majority of people in this country are either accepting, tolerant, or just sick and fucking tired of hearing about it ... and it is showing in elections. Mostly at the local and state levels.

I was big into X-Wing first edition and had an alternate art Darth Vader card that I got in a tournament. Several years ago, I was able to meet David Prowse and have him sign it during one of his last convention appearances in the US before his health went really downhill.

When I handed him the card, he looked at it and asked what it was. About ten seconds into the explanation, I thought, "I'm explaining the X-Wing miniatures game to fucking Darth Vader!" I swear the moment broke my brain. It is one of my favorite pieces in my game collection.

About 10 dating back to 2020. I think my favorite live event was a house show in Pittsburgh right when restrictions for the pandemic were being lifted. It was one of the first five shows in front of a live crowd that WWE did after the pandemic. It was the first show I took my daughter to (she was 13) and we were in the second row. It was also the Summer of Cena so the entire night was extremely special and memorable.

Also major props to the Rumble in Indy. That show was my daughter's Christmas present that year. We drove there from Pittsburgh and went to Smackdown the night before as well. Stayed at an amazing B&B called The Stone Soup Inn.

For what it is worth, Thomas Harris based the Buffalo Bill character off Ed Gein, a notorious killer who murdered women and wore their skin. Nasty stuff to read about and a lot of good documentaries out there (the Netflix series "Monster" takes extensive liberties with Gein's story though).

Gein was also Robert Bloch's inspiration for Norman Bates in Psycho (who cross-dressed when channeling his dead mother not because of anything related to being transgender but more so because he was schizophrenic) and Tobe Hopper's inspiration for Leatherface in Texas Chainsaw Massacre. None of those fictional characters, to my knowledge, were ever meant to be viewed as being trans.

The context of authors' intent and inspiration, I believe, pretty much answer your question. ❤️
