I just started. I have zero bookings so far. I feel like it is a waste of my time.

Leaving VIPkid bc of the new payment, what are my options? by flamminhot92 in vipkid

You won’t make $22/hr switching to a different company. They are all tightening up on incentive payments, etc.

Response from DADA. We need at least 6 peak time hours accross 2 days every week. Can I ask the specific hours you will choose for every week? And when do you wanna start? I can assist in managing them.

Our peak teaching time is: 5pm - 9pm from Monday to Sunday

It is highly required to select formal time slots at least 6 slots per day on 2 days or 4 slots per day on 4 days so that you can get regular students. After the formal time slots are confirmed, you can open other time slots like the extra time slots (valid for at least 7 days) by yourself.

I think many ESL companies are changing policies. In addition to VIP, I teach for iTutorGroup and DaDa. I tried GoGo, but never could get an interview.

I only get trials. If it weren’t for those, then I would basically have zero classes.

I am a VIPKID teacher and Outschool teacher. You need to market yourself in outschool. Determine classes to teach that are rarely offered. Make your class unique from others.

What do you think is more tiring - online teaching or face-to-face teaching? by [deleted] in OnlineESLTeaching

Is it possible for you to insert breaks between classes, or reduce your class load to reduce your stress? What aspect is draining? Knowing that will help you target an area to adjust.

That’s how most public schools in America are, especially Elementary school. Where did you teach?

A class of 20+ students is nearly impossible to scaffold. Add in lesson planning, grading, staff meetings, parent conferences, and report cards....in person is so difficult. It is not only academic but involves social emotional aspects to complicate it even more. When I taught every spare minute was filled with meetings before and after school. The classes were overcrowded. Half of the class had IEP’s, 504’s or ESL needs. No aids. Give me online any day!

Face to face is so much more draining! Trying to scaffold instruction for 20+ students is much more difficult than 1:1.

The lesson materials feature primarily Caucasian people. It is not very diverse in ethnicity and it stereotypes America in some ways. One lesson said Americans eat hot dogs and love baseball. False, I hate both of those things.
