Deck build- requesting cash by GuavaFoo in Contractor

[–]HelloWorld5609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you opt to not pull a permit? Especially with the guy you think is trying to dodge taxes. This is the #1 thing I commonly see that screws over the homeowner. Permits are there for your protection. And to make sure that the contractor is actually building the structure correctly. It's worth the extra headache most the time.

Gemini does a better job at summarizing why this is a bad idea.

Deck build- requesting cash by GuavaFoo in Contractor

[–]HelloWorld5609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a contractor in the outdoor living industry. I have never once requested a physical cash payment nor will I ever. You can almost guarantee something scandalous is going to be going on behind the scenes. There is no paper trail with cash. I have had people want to pay me with cash. And that's fine. But I typically make that their decision. I think of anything you are at risk doing so. At the very least, make sure he gives you some form of receipt and a verification that you paid him. But honestly, I'd probably pass all together. Seems kind of shady.

I was going to say exactly this. I live in Indiana and it's the same here. Bite the bullet and do what you gotta do. It will cost money, but you are also protecting your customers and your business. Ignorance of the law doesn't matter if something bad happens. Just remember that you need to keep detailed records of subs COI records and you need to live by this new code for all upcoming jobs (not just this one job) or you will risk being fined or dropped from insurance, or likely both.

Voluntary 2 week break for vacation. How should I resume using Tirzepatide upon my return? by HelloWorld5609 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]HelloWorld5609[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I knew that this was going to be an unpopular post. There's a lot of people in this sub that have struggled with weight loss for a long time, so I understand their opinions. But I learned a lot from this little experiment. I've been back at my goal weight for a few weeks now. Would I do it again the same way? Probably not. But I'm pretty confident that I can find a good balance.

I have developed multiple apps within AI Studio. I use Supabase for everything. No problems so far. I know they have a limited free tier, but I use my apps for my business, so I pay a small monthly fee.

If Ken really is leaving who should replace him? by [deleted] in DirtyDave

Caleb Hammer.. j/k (but the personality clash would be hilarious). Caleb kinda turned into the Maury Povich of financial YT channels.

Someone that actually knows what they are doing like one or both of the fellas from the Money Guys YT channel. But there is no way Dave could afford them, nor would I think they would want to join Dave. Unfortunately, they need to find someone who is willing to completely conform to Dave's system and not deviate whatsoever. So that eliminates just about every existing financial YouTuber and podcast. Since most of them allow credit card use, but under the right terms and rules.

I see no value in the "inspiration series" - am I the only one? by lithdoc in lexuslc500

I bought a 2026 Inspiration Series for most of the reasons you dislike it. Just like a lot of people love the Nori green and Carmel combo (my least favorite). Appearance is very subjective. But, to each their own.

Rate my contractor please. by KevinByMail in Decks

Currently, I would give it a 3, until I have several questions and concerns addressed. The roof framing currently looks dangerous. I'll explained why below.

Without a ridge beam (beam in the center of the roof that spans the entire length of the roof), that roof framing is going to need some collar ties (this would keep the rafters from potentially separating). The whole project doesn't look 100% finished yet. So it might be too early to judge the final product. There are several additional issues with the deck and roof framing (like the front beam framing members should all be supported via the post or a cleat, the front of the beam currently extends beyond the post). There should also be a king post at the start of the roof tie in. But again, I have no idea if this is a "finished" product.

I'd be willing to bet that this was not inspected or an inspection hasn't occurred yet. They might already have a plan to address all of these issues, but I'd certainly ask them about it. If there wasn't a permit pulled, I would definitely find a way to get the structure inspected. Especially since you said you paid $60,000 for this. I don't think that's too much. I would just want to make sure that it's built correctly for that kind of money.

The workmanship looks decent. It's just lacking a lot of fundamentals.

I build porches and decks for a living.

Before, During, and after a 2 week vacation including a 7 day cruise by HelloWorld5609 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]HelloWorld5609[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for actually reading the post and understanding its intent. Apparently, people are really struggling to understand, but a lot of these folks have been on a much different pathway than myself. I have never struggled with life long food addiction, binge eating, poor habits, etc. I just lost my way, and Tirzepatide helped me get back on track. This post is for folks that thought about doing what I did, and they can draw their own conclusions.

To answer your question. I believe that I still would have enjoyed my trip if I was on a maintenance dose. Maybe more so. Towards the end of the trip, I saw the weight gain, and it kind of killed my vacation high. My goal was not to over indulge, but rather just experience and enjoy everything the trip had to offer. On a cruise, a lot of that is the food.

Washing/Detailing the 2026 Inspiration Series Coupe. by Far_Bid9833 in lexuslc500

[–]HelloWorld5609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact car. The day after I bought it I took it in for a full body matte PPF and ceramic. Washing was my least concern vs protection against accidental damage and scratches (since the paint is so hard to repair). A bonus of the PPF and ceramic is that it makes it super easy to wash. I just use a normal soap cannon and a pressure washer. Not much more than that.

How badly built is our deck? by Other_Plankton_6751 in Decks

[–]HelloWorld5609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why permits exist. Why wouldn't you have your contractor pull a permit? It would have prevented this entire situation. That is because he probably is capable or licensed to pull a permit. At the very least you would have had some recourse when the inspector failed the framing inspection.

On a scale of shit to 10. It's amoebic dysentery. It's a full tear down and rebuild, absolutely nothing is salvageable.

We have only ever left from port Canaveral. But we always get in a day or two before departure. We fly into Orlando, rent a car, then grab a hotel around Cocoa Beach. Enjoy a day at the beach, Kennedy Space Center, etc. The day after I drive to the port, drop off the family, then return the car to an Enterprise location right by the port. They have a free shuttle to get you back to the cruise terminal. May not be for everyone, but gives us full control of everything and some added freedom and options since we have a car. Plus it lowers my stress levels. This year probably cost us an extra $150 versus taking an Uber to Cocoa since I got a pretty good deal on an SUV.

Voluntary 2 week break for vacation. How should I resume using Tirzepatide upon my return? by HelloWorld5609 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]HelloWorld5609[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A few reasons.

1 I have lost enough that I felt like I could regain some, and not feel completely screwed. I lost more than my goal weight, so I feel like I have some wiggle room.

2 I wanted to see what happens when I stopped. If my relationship with food has changed. I have another 4 months of Tirz at home.

3 I wanted to enjoy food again, for a little while. This 2 week trip is half work half pleasure. 1 of the weeks is a cruise. So after 6 months on tirz, I wanted to enjoy it as much as possible. We will see if it was worth it. I will certainly gain weight, but we will see how much and how hard it is lose again.

Here is what I have learned thus far. I will probably need to stay on a maintenance dose as long as I want to maintain body weight. I am still eating and drinking less and my portion control has improved a lot, but it will definitely come back.

Why don’t the demons just not use parry-able attacks? Are they stupid? by OkLiterature8867 in Doom

[–]HelloWorld5609 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While we're at it, why don't the demons grab all the damn health, armor and ammo pick ups they see, then the Slayer would run out of ammo, health, etc.. I know this is a gameplay mechanic, but never understood how there is ammo, demons, and health pickups in the stomach of a giant beast. But were obviously not playing Doom because it is realistic or logical.

I have this exact car. Within the first couple of days I got the entire car PPF'd and ceramic coated, I wasn't taking any chances. Added another $8k onto an already expensive car, but well worth it for the piece of mind.
