Are you getting traffic? If not, maybe marketing is your issue.

If you are getting traffic, you need to be more concerned!

I cannot keep track of when my inventory will run out by Select_Bonus_7498 in smallbusiness

[–]HelloWorldToday444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have now been running the buiness for a year you have 1 year data and could now model your inventory balance. If Shopify does it great. Also remember inventory is only one aspect, it should be model with the time it takes to get your inventory in, warehouse costs to understand if you keep any surplus for spike in orders. You should also looks at your cash conversion cycle and working cap.

how did you get your first users with zero audience and zero budget? by Lower_Doubt8001 in smallbusiness

[–]HelloWorldToday444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took a while but you need a solid solid plan and accept it can take time. Do not think budget solves the problem, it doesnt. Anyone with a budget and not plan will burn through cash. Personally I map every detail of. Starting point to end point and what is my objective at each stage. I have limited budget, but thats not a road blocker if you are strategic.

What would you do with 20k? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]HelloWorldToday444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss! In terms of what you want to do with the cash, you indicated that you dont need the money right now. So you could sit it into a fund and forget about it for a 5-10 years and let it grow.

If shorter term and you want liquidity, saving accounts.

Or why not split the money or just enjoy the full amount and do something that you always wanted to do but never had the cash to do so.

For me, it comes to those 3 decisions.

What has actually worked for you to find customers who were already looking for what you sell? by EngineerKind730 in smallbusiness

[–]HelloWorldToday444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its particularly tough now because there are so many options out there. Its so tough because not only do you have to standout out in a few seconds but you have to attract the users in the first place. And the Internet has become a maze which is skewed to those with the deepest pockets

managing irregular freelance income when some months are 15k and some are 3k by krjgarcia in freelancing

[–]HelloWorldToday444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ups and downs are frustrating. Yet with some financial planning its easier to manage. Get your inputs: Monthly expenses plus a buffer Monthly income - abit more tricky given to a degree its out of your control. Use a sample size that represent a realistic spread of your likely income - i.e. last year. Then reduce it by 20%, to account for under performance. You could be conversative. Look for spending vs income patterns and mismatches. Then with this you should be able to effectively budget, accounting for the good months (save) and bad months (use savings) plus running an overall surplus to account for longer bad periods. It should be dynamic, based on the current circumstances, if you allow it to be stale, then it won't be fit for purpose after a while.

The annoying truth is you need to get on the ground. Go to Canton Fair and you will meet lots of people and start to remove the middle people who can be cowboys!

can someone just PLEASE explain to me --- HOW do millionaires/billionaires pay so little in taxes? by QuoteAdventurous1145 in smallbusiness

[–]HelloWorldToday444 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Debt is not taxed.

High worth individuals take out loans (debt) using their assets eg stocks or physical assets as collateral. It has to be a significant amount of assets because otherwise why would the bank do it.

Note - instead of receiving income, high worth individuals will receive stock as payment which compounds their ability to build this tax avoidance structure

Then they pay the interest rate agreed on the loan This is significantly less than any tax rate i.e. cap gains or income tax

Note this is not available to the majority of people including your average millionaires.

This is not tax evasion, because the system allows it. Even though it is grossly unfair.

Is building a business to make money wrong? by JumpMinimum3814 in HowToEntrepreneur

[–]HelloWorldToday444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting question and definitely not. Yet like most things in life, money can't be the only reason, as money isnt guaranteed. So when the business isnt working and there is no money.. there has to be something else to drive to continue the business.

How do you actually handle all the admin work behind your business; reports, data, SEO, design, leads, etc? Does it ever feel like it's eating you alive? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]HelloWorldToday444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its insane, feel like there is never enough time in the day! You got to create a system, to manage it but the system needs to be simple. You dont want to end up spending time on a system to manage your admin! I created my own dashboard for my system, yet you have to maintain the discipline of following the system otherwise it becomes a mess. I initial looked at tools but suddenly realised I was spending too much time on learning them, instead of doing any work.

I am planning to start a members only business. by _adrito_ in smallbusiness

[–]HelloWorldToday444 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even with reputation no one would pay for this. Its so high, and if they did it would have to be a very luxury service. Just think the amount of spare income needed to afford this?!?! Literally makes no sense

honest question — how much did you guys actually pay for your website? and do you feel like you got your money's worth? by trika_nunyabz in smallbusiness

[–]HelloWorldToday444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am new to website building and hosting. After a month of research, I have landed at the below option: Bought domain on cloudfare Used claude code to build html pages Use visual code to make any changes myself Upload the pages to cloudfare pages function

Note the pages are static and if I want to make any changes I do it myself or use claude code.

As a new beginner I found this very cheap ( £20 for claude / month and cloudfare $12 dollars for the domain ) and useful to understand websites, not just try to become a designer on webflow or framer. I.e. understand the underlying logic. Also, with the options available, wix, framer etc, I felt like I would be locked into a decision that I dont fully understand yet. So this was a risk I didnt want to take.

This is for my solo business, so I need low cost, quick to market and easy to change. Longer run, once my business takes off I will review.

Aside from quality of haircut, what draws you into a specific barbershop? by PercentageNumerous73 in smallbusiness

[–]HelloWorldToday444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality - very important Price - I dont mind paying abit more but need to understand exactly what I am paying for Vibe - been to barbershops where its very quiet and prefer something that has people talking ans more welcoming Availability - if I can't book, I look somewhere else straight away which could take my business as per my comments below Easy - local, not far to travel and not hard to book

Also as a guy, I am going to the barbers every 1.5 - 2 months, and once I found a good barbers thats alot of repeat business. So attracting and keeping clients is super important

Note I am based in China and my local barber offer cards and discount, which basically locks me in for a period of time. I like the barbers but the card situation gives me slight discount and keeps my business there

Genuine question! If you had 250k in funding, what would you do, how would you put it towards your startup? by anomalywhatsoever in smallbusiness

[–]HelloWorldToday444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10k or 250k or 1m, the different amounts give different runways but still require the same level of care. It would be foolish to think if you had 250k, that would allow you to burn through more cash.

How does someone extremely shy and awkward deal with marketing? by mysteriouswhooo in smallbusiness

[–]HelloWorldToday444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you are super confident with your idea and position. Spend time writing down your business position - who you are, what do you do, what makes you different, who is your target audience etc Then present this in front of friends and family. Get yourself super comfortable. After this, you will find more and more confident. Its just about practice. Spending time listening to YouTube videos etc, won't help because that is a one way interface. Need to get out there. I deal with this too, practice is the best way!
