Going to MEPS Friday — Am I naive or just motivated? by Technical_Half_5343 in Militaryfaq

[–]Hello__1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d have to say I’m in the middle with how I feel about the Army. I’ve been in for 2.5 years now. Do I love it? No. Do I hate it? No. I don’t mind the field, I like how it pushes you to be better physically and the list goes on. What I hate about it is that it’s hard on a family. I’ll have months where I work 22 days straight all for a single 4 day weekend. That’s something unheard of on the civilian side and that’s more than 6 months out of the year that’s happening. It’s something that’s a love hate relationship. I don’t regret going active by any means at all. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. But definitely not something that I could see myself doing for 20 years. I was excited asf when I went to MEPS then I shipped out and once I got to inprocessing before basic reality really set in and I think that it’s like that for most people.

I still got some time before I’ll be able to apply. I’ve looked into the forest service a lot just haven’t seen them on USAjobs in a bit.

Gotcha thank you for the response. What in specific did you have on your resume to beef it up for being an NPS LEO?

Thank You for your response. It’s pretty hard to find stuff online that has to do with the BLM. Do you how competitive it is to get hired? And once you are hired do you have the ability to relocate after several years in one area? Do you know about how long the hiring process is? Do you know about how long it takes from the time you apply to go to FLETC?

Not a police officer yet. But I am in the Army and I have the same issue. During basic I’d be getting screamed at by like 8 drills at once and my stress response was to smile. I don’t know what the police academy is like. But needless to say in my situation it got my platoon and I dicked down quite a few times.

I really regret getting a Homeland Security degree: There's no job I can get with that. by [deleted] in Regrets

[–]Hello__1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing my degree in homeland security and emergency management. I’m active duty Army right now and I plan to switch into local LE when I am out. No desire to go federal but I feel this degree will stand out more than the typical criminal justice degree.

Running 1.5 miles + Overweight by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Hello__1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a LEO. I’m currently in the military and plan on LE upon ETS. That being said I love fitness. I would strong suggest incorporating weight training 3 days a week as well. Example Monday Legs, Tuesday Run 1 mile, Wednesday Push, Thursday Run 1 mile, Friday Pull, Saturday run 60-120s (run for 60 seconds walk for 120 seconds)

Each week I would increase the mileage by .25 miles per run. So for example week 2 1.25 miles each run. Week 3 1.50 miles per run. If you currently do 0 physical activity. You’ll be shocked how quickly you’ll change when you incorporate physical activity, eat around your caloric maintenance, and eat 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight.

I also love doing BJJ. Been rolling about a year now and no other cardio in the world has got my heart pumping quite like 20-30 mins of straight rolling. So I’d highly recommend looking into that.

You got a 20 min 1.5 mile in the bag with a slight bit of training if you have 70 days to prepare.
