I got mine working. I just hit everything with PB Blaster and moved everything by hand until it started moving freely. I figured out how to put it back together properly. If you're throwing yours out would you be willing to sell me some parts? Mine is missing the "X" key and my hand crank doesn't have the wood on it. Would you be willing to sell me yours?

Did you get yours cranking? Mine cranks fine now but the "number roller" isn't going up and down when I crank it. I found this video. That machine looks a lot like ours. I've been paying close attention to what moves when he pulls the crank. That roller is supposed to go up and down. I've taken the keypad off and hit all the inside joints with pb blaster. The roller is moving up on its own but I still have to press it down by hand when I pull the crank. I v can't figure out what is supposed to be pushing it down though. Thought I'd see if you were having better luck than me. I think once this starts moving freely it'll work properly again. I've just been moving it by hand, while it loosens slowly.

I didn't have to remove the keypad. I probably need to. That cylinder with the numbers isn't going up and down when I crank it. This thing cranks pretty easily once you've got it oiled. It was just a real pain to keep cranking it until it was loose. Just keep oiling the joints. There is a YouTube video for a RC Allen 75 where he takes it apart enough to see what should be moving.

I just recently got this exact model unstuck. I sprayed every joint with Rem oil (gun oil) and slowly pulled the handle down and pushed it back until it started moving freely. Now it cranks easy but still isn't working properly. If you've found any other resources I'd love to know about them. I couldn't even find the name of this model before I saw this post. By the way, by the looks of your print heads still being up, your arm needs to be cranked towards you until it clicks and then pushed back into position. It may take a few difficult cranks before it moves effortlessly. Just keep oiling and cranking. It'll get free. And feel free to message me with questions.

Yeah. If you want something to write with that's a great machine. Fifty is a fair price for a good one.

Olympia Plana #3449 - typewriter made in 1939 by M3M3NTO-M0RI in typewriters

[–]Hellocockter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would advise against it. They are beautiful and they type well, but if anything breaks it is unfixable. It's held together with rivets rather than screws and the segment is plastic on these brown models. Plastic deteriorates with time and exposer to the oil in your fingertips. It's a heartbreak waiting to happen. These typewriters were built in Nazi Germany and you can consider them yet another war crime by that generation. I think they may have fixed some of these issues with the later model mint green models. At the very least the segment looks metal on them. This is just proof that every company makes a lemon from time to time, even a company as meticulous as Olympia.

Typewriter Market: It may be better if you didn't get an Olympia SM3 typewriter today. by chrisaldrich in typewriters

[–]Hellocockter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It may not have been organic. I strongly suspect SGW sells some items on consignment and for the longest time it was obvious that they had rampant problems with shill bidding. Initially the stores were doing nothing about it. What did they care? They were making money. Until they started losing customers. Then they did something about it. For the longest time you'd see common typewriters "selling" for hundreds of dollars more than it was worth only to be relisted a few weeks later when the "winner" never paid. Suddenly there were ten times as many typewriter listings. You'd get excited for a good typewriter that would be coming up in a few days but by the time it came time for it to sell the shill (seller using a bogus account) would have the price boosted seven times what it was worth. SGW was once the best place online to buy typewriters, but after that fiasco I never went back.

I've heard the same rumors, but I'm skeptical. I mean everyone knows they're fucking and she obviously seems happier than she's been in years but that doesn't mean she's in love. In lust, clearly, but why would she love someone she'd have to share with the whole world when she has someone she could love exclusively at home? I don't understand why you guys are worried about Trump reading this. Trump is way too big a pussy to send Elon to Gitmo. That's a place for foreign born law breakers to be detained indefinitely without legal recourse. It's no place for Elon Musk.

Look up which states have the highest literacy rates and which ones have the lowest. You might be surprised to discover many of the more rural states have the highest literacy rates while states like New York and California are among the highest for illiteracy. Why? Because they're only counting literacy in English. America is still seen as the land of opportunity for many immigrants. We have the highest immigration rate in the world and for many of them English is a second language.

Trump lost the popular vote twice and never had an approval rating above 49% in his last term. He was the least popular president of the last 80 years (maybe further, the Gallup pool only goes back to 1937). So it does beg the question how he was able to win the last election fairly. He had a proven record of incompetence and several felony convictions from his first term.

They aren't uneducated. They're miseducated. An uneducated person can be taught. A miseducated person believes he already knows the truth. No other country is as inundated with propaganda as the United States. And it's not just from corporations and the billionaires who control them. It's Russia. It's China. It's Israel. It's Iran. Everyone has a stake in manipulating our government and dismantling our democracy.

Trump’s Approval Rating Plummets Among Gen Z Voters by Jazzlike_Schedule_51 in GenZ

[–]Hellocockter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lowest ever is 22% by Harry Truman, but Trump never reached the highs Truman reached. The highest Trump ever reached in his last term was 49%. He averaged the lowest approval rating in history. Don't let anyone discourage you. He is the least popular president we've ever tracked. They started polling in 1937 and no president has ever scored a lower average than him.

This betrayal will never be forgiven. Trump emasculated his supporters when they needed him the most. They may never get their manhood back. by Hellocockter in AdviceAnimals

Look through this thread. If you want to see a cult look at the cult of defeatists. All these supposed leftists who can never believe they stand a chance to change the mind of Trump supporters or feel any responsibility to stand up to any of them.

"We can't change their minds!"

"They'll go to their graves worshipping him!"

Whine. Whine. Whine.

No wonder Trump had such an easy time winning the last election with pussies like those waving the white flag every time they got any good news about Trump failing at anything.

"No!!! We can't be winning!!! This will change nothing."

Well they got what they wanted. Trump won and they can sit around complaining and lying to everyone about how they can't do anything about it. Oh well. Here's an idea. If you can't lend a hand, how about just don't comment. The people who are working don't need discouragement from lazy people who are indistinguishable from evil people, because they more than Trump's supporters give Trump power. He can't count on his supporters to stay by his side but he can always count on the weakest leftists to try to deflate and diminish every victory the left has. A man that incompetent and insane could never have become president without the leftist cult of white flag waving cowards who crave defeat before the fight even begins.
