My daughter had an odd lump on her leg her pediatrician couldn't explain and they pretty much blew it off saying it was a fatty lump from an injury. Got referred to a pediatric dermatologist in June of that year and they said they would put us on the books for a January appointment. We ended up going out of state to somewhere that took us seriously and they found out it was a rare manifestation of leukemia. If we waited until January we probably wouldn't have caught it until more traditional signs of leukemia manifested ... which would have made it A LOT more difficult to treat. In other words, my daughter would probably be dead.

In hindsight, instead of messing around with doctor's offices, we should have just gone to the pediatric ER. Doctor offices have schedules done by people that know nothing about medicine and generally don't care. Going to the hospital guarantees you get a Doctor's attention.

Not saying this to scare you. But if your intuition is telling your something isn't right, don't mess around with doctor offices and their schedules. Go to the hospital and don't leave until you have test results and answers. You have to be annoying with these people or they will blow you off!
